BackgroundKawasaki Disease is the most common acquired heart disease in children, and it isalso a very common vascular inflammatory disease in children. Diagnosing thedisease in an early time and giving the treatment of IVIG can prevent the sequel ofcoronary artery injury. Currently, the diagnosis of typical Kawasaki Disease was setup on the clinical presentation, however it is still a difficult thing to diagnosis typicaland atypical Kawasaki Disease in an early time, to find some reliable serologybiomarker to support the diagnosis is a hotspot in the current research area. Matrixmetalloproteinase-9is a member of Matrix Metalloproteinase’s family, it participatesin the process of construction of the matrix of the vessel wall, and it plays animportant role during the process of the inflammation of vessel. MatrixMetalloproteinase-9has a compact relationship with coronary artery disease in adult.Considering the pathology of the Kawasaki Disease is mainly in coronary arteryinjury, so we think there may have some relationship between the MatrixMetalloproteinase-9and Kawasaki Disease, may be it can provide some help for thediagnosis of the early stage of Kawasaki Disease.ObjectiveDetect the blood plasma level of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9in the early stage; try tofind some relationship between the Matrix metalloproteinase-9and the KawasakiDisease, Discussing the value of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9in the diagnosis of theatypical Kawasaki Disease.MethodsDraw the blood of the inpatient children with suspected Kawasaki Disease; detect theblood plasma level of the Matrix metalloproteinase-9. At the same time we detect theblood plasma level of Matrix metalloproteinase-9of the patients with Henoch-Sch nlein, and also the patients who got Respiratory Tract Infections andwith fever more than4days and healthy control group. After conforming thediagnosis of the Kawasaki Disease, we compare the blood plasma level of the Matrixmetalloproteinase-9in these four groups of different diseases to find out if there areany significant differences between these different diseases.ResultThe blood plasma level of Matrix metalloproteinase-9in Kawasaki Disease is higherthan the other3groups,(P<0.05).Compare the blood plasma level of the Matrixmetalloproteinase-9with CRP and ESR in ROC curve, At the cutoff value of(90.23ng/mL), it shows better sensitivity and specificity than CRP and ESR indiagnosis of Kawasaki disease.ConclusionThe blood plasma level of Matrix metalloproteinase-9is increased in the early stageof Kawasaki Disease and the amplitude of the increasing level is higher than the otherinflammatory disease. May be it can be a good biomarker to help diagnosis ofKawasaki Disease in the early stage.
