Objective Spinal tuberculose models were built by inserting standardtuberculose strain of H37Rv into the upper edge of lumbar4in New Zealand whiterabbits, then to supply animal model for substructure investigation of bonetuberculosis.Methods42New Zealand rabbits were divided into three groups. There are20,20,2rabbits in the experimental group, control group and the blank group, respectively. Freund’s complete adjuvant was injected into intradermal of the neckwith New Zealand rabbits. one month later, the models were built through drillinghole on the4th anodic lumbar vertebrae in the sensitized New Zealand whiterabbits and the hole was inserted which filling gelatin sponge and adsorbed MTBsuspension(bacterium quantity:0.5mg/0.1ml) in the experimental group. Thecontrol group were injected into liquid medium and saline mixture, and the blankcontrol group were received no treatment at the same time, which were confirmedthough general overview, images, histopathology and bacteriology postoperatively. Results After being infected by standard Mycobacterium tuberculosis ofH37Rv on the lumbar spine in New Zealand white rabbits, local reaction was fairlyconspicuous, and survival rate was high. Fourteen rabbits had been completedexperiment in infected group(15/17), four rabbits of them appeared athrepsy andbad foodintake (4/17).8masculine rabbits of them appeared in X-ray films fourweeks postoperatively (8/17),and10masculine rabbits of them appeared in X-rayfilms eight weeks postoperatively (10/15). There were15masculine rabbits of them appeared in reconstruction of CT films four weeks postoperatively (15/15),and15masculine rabbits of them appeared in reconstruction of CT films eightweeks postoperatively (15/15). There were15masculine rabbits of them appearedin MRI films eight weeks postoperatively. The HE coloretur of body of vertebraand latero-vertebra soft tissue shew pus cell or epithelioid cell or cellular necrosisfocus in infected group,73.3percents of liquor puris of rabbits shewmycobacterium tuberculosis grown. The achievement ratio of modelling was88.2%(15/17).Conclusion Injected suitable dosage of standard tuberculose strain ofH37Rv into the centra of spinal column in the sensitized rabbits, the rabbit modelsof spinal tuberculosis were established susscessfully which were pathologicallysimilar to spinal tuberculosis in humans. The models were followed up andconfirmed successfully by symptoms, images, histopathology and bacteriology.
