ObjectiveType1diabetes mellitus is characterized by absolute insulin deficiency, abruptonset of symptoms, proneness to ketosis and dependence on exogenous insulin tosustain life.It is primarily an autoimmune disease in the classical sense includingcell-mediated inunanity and humoral immunity. It is found that cytokines is relatedwith many diseases. interleukin-17is novel cytokine which is thought havingrelationship with type1diabetes mellitus in recent study. To investigate the levels and clinical significance of serum interleukin17(IL-17)inpatients with Type1diabetesmellitus(T1DM).To analyze correlation of IL-17withT1DM pancreatic islet function, provide laboratory thereunder for nosogenesis andimmunity intervene cure of T1DM.Methodsaccording to WHO diabetes diagnostic code of1999,20patients with type1diabetes mellitus(T1DM) or latent autoimmune diabetes in adults(LADA),26patients with type2diabetes mellitus(T2DM) and25normal controls were enrolled inthe study. The course of disease in30months;The levels of serum fasting bloodglucose(FBG)and were measured by glucose oxidase method; lipoproteincholesterol(LDL-C) and C-reactive protein(CRP)were detected by biochemicalmethod;Glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c)were measured by high performance liquidchromatography(HPLC);fasting Cpeptide(FCP) and were measured by magneticseparation enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; serum interleukin17(IL-17)byELISA(nzyme-linked immunosorbent assay). All of the statistical data was processedwith SPSS16.0software.Results1. The IL-17level in sera of T1DM patients was29.25士6.9pg/ml,T2DM patients was22.2士4.11pg/ml,the normal control group was18.32士3.05pg/ml;T1DM group much higher than T2DM group、 the normal control group(p<0.01).T2DM group higher than the normalcontrol group(p<0.05).2. There was positive significant correlations between the IL-17levels in the sera of T1DMpatients and HBA1C(r=0.634,p<0.01),There was negative significant correlations betweenthe IL-17levels in the sera of T1DM patients and C peptide(r=-0.053,p <0.01). There waspositive significant correlations between the IL-17levels in the sera of T2DM patients andHBA1C(r=0.615,p<0.01),There was no significant correlations between the IL-17levels inthe sera of T2DM patients and C peptide. There was no significant correlations between theIL-17levels in the sera of DM patients and body mass index, low density lipoprotein,C-reactive protein.Conclusion1. IL-17involve in the development of type1diabetes mellitus2. There was negative significant correlations between the IL-17levels in the sera of T1DMpatients and C peptide, The IL-17level is consistent with pancreatic island function damage; There was positive significant correlations between the IL-17levels in the sera of DM patientsand HBA1c,the level of HBA1c maybe reflect Th17cell activative degree.
