Objective:To analyse the clinical outcomes and safety of phacoemulsificationcombined with intraocular lens implantion and goniosynechialysis in eyes with acuteprimary angle-closure glaucoma and co-existing cataract. Methods:The retrospective study included47patients(54eyes),from September2008to December2011in our hospital patients with acute primary angle-closureglaucoma and co-existing cataract and data integrity;including13men(15eyes),34women (39eyes).The age was56to83years,the mean age68.2±6.9years.54eyes of47patients with acute primary angle-closure glaucoma and co-existingcataract were treated by phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lensimplantion and goniosynechialysis after reducing intraocular pressure(IOP).Weobserved visual acuity,IOP,anterior chamber depth(ACD),limbal chamber depth(LCD),anterior chamber angle and complications after1to12months of follow-up,the mean follow-up of7.23±3.56months.Results: Postoperatively, the best corrected visual acuity was obviously improved in54eyes(Z=6.244, P<0.05). Mean preoperative IOP after reducing IOP was18.94±5.10mmHg and mean postoperative IOP was11.81±3.22mmHg(t=11.896,P<0.05).Mean preoperative ACD was1.83±0.29mm and mean postoperative ACDwas3.53±0.43mm (t=27.750,P<0.05).The postoperative LCD was deeper thanthe preoperative LCD(Z=9.703,P<0.05).The postoperative anterior chamber anglewas open to varying degrees(Z=9.187,P<0.05).Conclusion:Phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantion andgoniosynechialysis in eyes with acute primary angle-closure glaucoma andco-existing cataract is beneficial to visual acuity,IOP,ACD and anterior chamberangle. Clincally, the management is effective and safe....
