Objective:Retrospective analysis the serum LDH levels at different periods in 70 patients with adult acute leukemia in our hospital , to investigate the value of the serum LDH in adult acute leukemia. Methods:Collected 70 adult patients in our hospital with acute leukemia between January 2005 ~ December 2010 ,observed and compared serum LDH levels in pretreatment, no remission, partial remission, complete remission, relapse. Divided the patients into male and female group, the group of ALL and the group AML ,hepatosplenomegaly and without hepatosplenomegaly group, then Compared their serum LDH levels before treatment. Furthermore, divided complete remission group into one course Chemotherapy and above one course Chemotherapy group , the group survival above 2 years from the date of diagnosis and the other group survival within 2 years, compared the their serum LDH levels before treatment. Correlation analysis the of serum LDH levels before treatment between total white blood cell count ,peripheral blasts percentage, bone marrow blasts percentage .Results:(1) There were 52 patients with chemotherapy, 31 patients without remission, partial remission 33 patients, 39 patients complete remission, relapse 17 patients. (2) Pretreatment, no remission and relapse group of serum LDH levels was significantly higher than the control group (p <0.001), the difference was statistically significant. Serum LDH levels partial remission higher than the control group (p <0.01), the difference was significant. Pretreatment , no remission and relapse group serum LDH levels was significantly higher than the complete remission group (p <0.001), the difference was significant . Serum LDH level of partial remission was higher than remission group (p <0.05), the difference was significant .The serum LDH levels between pretreatment and no remission, relapse group of was no significant difference (p> 0.05). Pretreatment and no remission group of serum LDH levels was higher than the partial remission group (p <0.05), the difference was statistically significant. For complete remission ,serum LDH levels above one course chemotherapy group was higher than one course Chemotherapy group (p <0.05), the difference was significant. Serum LDH levels of the group survival within 2 years was higher than the group survival above 2 years (p <0.05), the difference was statistically significant.(3)In 70 patients with acute leukemia compared the serum LDH levels between male and female, hepatosplenomegaly group and without hepatosplenomegaly, there was no significant difference(p> 0.05). The serum LDH levels of the group of ALL was higher than the group of AML(p <0.05), the difference was statistically significant.(4 ) The serum LDH level and the number of white blood cells strongly correlated r = 0.617 (p <0.01), there was significant. Serum LDH level and the proportion of peripheral blood blasts strongly correlation r = 0.730 (p <0.01), it was statistically significant. The correlation between the level of serum LDH and bone marrow blasts percentage was strong r = 0.710 (p< 0.01),it was statistically significant. Conclusions: Serum LDH levels was a reference factor of evaluation in tumor burden with acute adult leukemia. In acute leukemia patients, pretreatment serum LDH levels had important prognostic value. Serum LDH levels may predict Condition changes well in acute leukemia patients. We considered that the serum LDH level before treatment ALL group higher than in AML group .But the serum LDH level before treatment between female and male, whether the enlargement of the liver and spleen, it was no significant association.
