Barley is one of the most important crops in China, which has been widely used in food, medicine, beer industry and other fields. Because of vast territory and complicated environment in China, there are different growing conditions and barley varieties and plentiful field management technology, in order to understand and master the different varieties of barley cultivation management and production technology in six planting zone of Gansu, a set of barley expert system was designed and developed, which provided many services, such as technical queries, environment monitoring, growth comparison, field management and decision-making.It is important and far-reaching significance for barley production management modernization, and provides a technique support for agricultural informatization application and development. The main contents are as follows,1.Based on modern barley planting and pest control technology, and according to design method of expert system, this paper presents a design principles and sketch of barley expert system for western barley users in China. The database was built by Microsoft Access software, which was consisted of barley varieties database, cultivation database, diseases and pests database.2.Under the Windows operating system, the main interface and query interfaces of the expert system were completed by VB software. While operation interfaces of modules were based on the product rule knowledge representation method. The remote image monitoring interface was developed by Lab VIEW software.3.Using VC++ software and combining Open GL image library, the visual interface was constructed, in which the barley leaf, stem, wheat and whole plant model were simulated in different growth periods.4.The conditional reasoning and image contrast reasoning program and interfaces were respectively designed and developed by VB and VC++, with which the diseases and pests identification and control and the reasoning decision-making were implemented.5.System debugging and the experimental results showed that this barley expert system has friendly interface and has higher precision in barley growth visualization and comparison, on which production query is convenient to operate, and in which remote monitoring frame rate of barley field image is lower, in addition, for which the barley reasoning decision-making result of diseases control is more credible.
