The meaning and concept of intelligence has been known to everyone, which also positively affects and changes the quality of people’s life. The application of intelligent penetrated into various fields as well as our basic necessities of life, such as smart residential quarters, smart hospitals, smart home and so on. They are all created based on intelligence. Therefore, the development of more innovative intelligent products is essential for improving our life.Smart home is the most closet to our life in the intelligent devices.The wide application of high technology and information technology makes people want to choose a safe, comfortable and convenient living environment. The smart home meets the requirements of people. The smart air-conditioning on the market, equipped with smart home energy management system, can achieve energy conservation and saves expenses. Smart Bracelet, determines the comprehensive health index according to a set of intelligent procedures. Smart locks can sent the information of fingerprint to phone client, so the household can know who has been back home and eliminate the trouble of forgetting to take the key. There are a lot of new smart home products walking into millions of families, providing better and better service for people’s life. The smart flowerpot in this paper is a kind of smart home.The normal growth of plants is one of the problems that people usually worries about. However, one of the biggest factors affecting the normal growth of plants is that plants need proper water. A few years ago, China’s smart flowerpot technology is immature and smart flowerpot products are rarely seen. The way of watering is traditional. Plants can not only quantitatively water regularly and the growth condition of plants cannot be monitored at any time. Recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, the product of intelligent flower pot has made great progress, but the technology stereotyped. They are mainly control the environment factors of plant growth to control the entire system. A kind of intelligent flowerpot was studied for solving these problems, which can determine the moisture of the plants through the weight of flowerpot and direct observation water potential of leaf.The main work of this paper was:1)This paper introduced the development and research status of smart flowerpots, and focused on the smart flowerpot technology based on the integrated measurement of leaf water potential and weight. A method based on weight and leaf water potential was used to determine plant growth status. The effect of soil moisture on plant growth is studied which hast opened up a new direction for the research of smart flowerpot.2)The SHT10 temperature and humidity sensors in the measurement of moisture is likely to cause damage to the sensor;and the measurement value is not correct. In this paper, the load cell was used to collect the total weight, temperature and humidity sensors was used to collect water potential of leaf. STC89C52 MCU was used to collect data, achieving communication with PC could be realized based on 485 field bus, LABVIEW preparation of PC data acquisition processing system.3)Water potential is the chemical potential concept, which is also one of the important applications in agriculture and biology. Using CAE model, it can put the collected temperature and humidity into the formula for derivation, calculating leaf water potential, and analyzing of the level of leaf water potential impact on soil moisture.4)Through a lot of experiments, weight, temperature and humidity data were collected. Then the relationship between data of weight, temperature and humidity and soil moisture was analyzed, to find a standard to realize automatic watering of the smart flowerpot.5)A beautiful, practical smart flowerpot was produced according to the hardware structure.With further debugging, it can achieve the accurate operation of the system and make it into production.
