Iodine widely exists in natural environment, and there is an obvious distribution inhomogeneity which leads to IDD in some parts of China. Using the iodine in seaweed to supple iodine demand, which future improve the iodine deficiency environment, is of great significance. This study has systematically determined varies elements content levels of seaweed. Using kelp to make seaweed iodine fertilizer and cultivating vegetables containing iodine, is also studied to analyze the differences of iodine content in vegetables. Soil which used to cultivate iodine contained vegetables, is carried on to soil water-soluble iodine content and dissolution rate experiments. Through the determination of iodine content changing with depth of soil, this study analyze the geochemical migration of seaweed in the soil and evaluate the role of seaweed iodine on the improvement of environment iodine content combined with the water iodine level. An industry chain is put forward based on the large-scale aquaculture of kelp.Elements content in the kelp varies obviously. Iodine decrease with the latitude and more nutrient element is absorbed than harmful elements. With the increase of the exogenous seaweed iodine concentration, the iodine content in different vegetables increase. The absorption ability in different parts of vegetables is:root> leaf> stem> fruit, and vegetable structure has a significant impact on iodine absorb ability. The water-soluble iodine content in the soil which was applied iodine fertilizer is higher and iodine dissolution rate stays under 10%. Seaweed iodine in the soil can be achieved through geochemical migration effect which will effectively improve the iodine content in the soil around. The experiments of soil profile and water iodine content shows that iodine content reaches the maximum at the depth of 30-50 cm and decreases with depth significantly. The spread ability of iodine and its migration ability in water is relatively weaker. All the research results above, has provided the scientific basis and technical support to the improvement of iodine deficiency environment and the comprehensive utilization of seaweed.
