With Urad Front Banner National Key Ecological Forest taken as an object of survey by setting sample areas, the expression of the diversity of the herbaceous layers in the ecological forest and the important values of the plant species, achieving the following results:(1) There are 13 species,13 genera and 4 families of Monocots, as well as 49 species, 39 genera and 18 families of Dicotyledons; the family that has the largest number of genera is the Gramineae family, which consists of 10 genera; the genus that has the largest number of species is Artemisia, which consists of 10 species.(2) A comparison was made in herbaceous layer between the forestlands using Margalef index that represents species richness, Simpson index that represents diversity, Shannon-Wiener index, and Pielou index that presents evenness. The result shows: Margalef index is larger in the middle-aged forest of Populus alba var. than in the young forest of Populus alba var., and there is a proximity in Simpson index and Shannon-Wiener index between the young forest of Populus alba var. and the middle-aged forest of Populus alba var., while the comparison in Pielou index has an opposite result; there is basically no difference in Pielou index between artificial Tamarix Chinensis (dense) and artificial Caragana Korshinskii (dense), and the other three indexes are larger in artificial Caragana Korshinskii (dense) than in artificial Tamarix Chinensis; there is basically no difference in Pielou index between artificial Caragana Korshinskii (sparse) and artificial Caragana Korshinskii (dense), and the other three indexes are larger in artificial Caragana Korshinskii (sparse) than in artificial Caragana Korshinskii (dense); all the four indexes are larger in artificial Caragana Korshinskii (sparse) than in natural Caragana Korshinskii (sparse); Margalef index is larger in forestation-suitable sandy badlands than in immature forest lands, while the comparison in the other three indexes has an opposite result, the total of the Conservation value of species resources of all surveyed forest is 1,177,548,400 yuan about 162739.99hm2 in National Key Forest of Urat Front Banner.(3) In the young forest of Populus alba var., the species that has the highest importance value is Artmisia argyi; in the middle-aged forest of Populus alba var., the species that has the highest importance value is Elymus dahuricus; in the artificial Tamarix Chinensis (dense), the species that has the highest importance"value is Phragmites austrlis; in the artificial Caragana Korshinskii (dense), the species that has the highest importance value is Green Bristlegrass; in the artificial Caragana Korshinskii (sparse), the species that has the highest importance value is Green Bristlegrass; in the natural Caragana Korshinskii (sparse), the species that has the highest importance value is Cleistogenes Squarrosa; the species that has the highest importance value in the immature forest lands is Sophora Alopecuroides; the species that has the highest importance value in the forestation-suitable sandy badlands is Artemisia Ordosica.
