The study was based on five principles of animal welfare, analyzed the effect of different influence factors on animal welfare, combined with field investigation and Delphi method for grazing sheep impact factor selection and prioritization. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was used to construct grazing sheep welfare evaluation index system, establishing a comparison sort matrix, and running the MATLAB software to calculate the weight of each index factor value. The grazing sheep welfare scale using percentile, and taking field evaluation for sheep breeding enterprises in Inner Mongolia region. According to the grading results, distinguish among their level of welfare, and then putting forward the breeding enterprise welfare level improvement measures. The main conclusions of this study were:1. The evaluation system of grazing sheep welfare was constructed based on the five basic principles of "physical welfare-environmental welfare-health welfare-psychological benefits-behavior welfare". Through the investigation and evaluation of four sheep breeding base in Inner Mongolia area, the results showed that the evaluation scores and the actual status of farming enterprises welfare was basically the same so that the welfare evaluation system was feasible and practical.2. In the welfare evaluation system of grazing sheep, the physical welfare was the most important factor affecting the sheep welfare level, and the weight value was 43.86%. The feed and water were the most important physical welfare indexes and had great effects on the grazing sheep, the influence degree were 17.53%. However, abnormal behavior had the least impact on the grazing sheep behavior welfare, and the weight value was only 0.4%.3. Four sheep breeding in the enterprise, two evaluations for optimal results, and two evaluation results were good; no enterprise culture evaluation was unqualified. The average score of 4 participating enterprises was 88.20, overall in the benign, showed that grazing patterns in the Inner Mongolia area could meet the basic needs of welfare for the sheep. Because of the lower scores of environmental welfare and health benefits, solving the problem of the health of grazing sheep and improving the living environment were the key points to improve the welfare of sheep in the future.4. Based on the results of the welfare evaluation of sheep under the grazing pattern in Inner Mongolia area, the problems found in the process of comprehensive evaluation were put forward, and the following specific improvement measures were put forward:To improve the quality of drinking water and water temperature, and add drinking water equipment. To build enough awnings and greenhouses, add heating feeding; lighting equipment and rest areas to maintain a suitable distance, to avoid affecting the herd rest, except for special delivery room area; ground to avoid excellent and padding to avoid too thin or too dry. To do regular quarantine and daily monitoring; develop a set to conform to the actual situation of the enterprise emergency plan; avoid the use of expired, disable veterinary; wastes and living garbage in a timely manner, keep rest area clean. Herd the proportion of male and female should be appropriate; to avoid or reduce mother separate grazing; grazing ban loudly scold and beat sheep; injury surgery for some necessity and veterinary staff need skilled, equipment disinfection, sheep and goats for anesthesia, avoidance of postoperative infection; seek other ways instead of dehorning, castration, ear number and other noxious operation, avoid sheep physical and mental torture. In view of domestic related research is very little, this study will inevitably have some shortcomings and deficiencies, and need to be further practice, to further complement and improve, to develop a welfare evaluation system in line with China’s national conditions.
