Gansu pr ovince is one of the f ive major pastor al areas in China, and grass land agr icultur e of Gansu is quite developed. The grass land agr iculture is a pillar industr y to Maqu and Tianzhu counties, and it als o provided substantial f oundation for local people’s subsistence and development. However, due to the grazing of natural pasture, the paras itic infection of yaks and Tibetan sheep is more serious, which restricts the improvement of production performance. In order to estimate the gastrointestinal nematode inefction in yaks and T ibetan sheeps in Maqu and T ianzhu for prevent ing and contr olling the gastrointestinal nematode diseases of local grazing yaks and tibetan sheep, 18 yaks and 35 T ibetan sheep in Maqu, 31 white yaks and 41 Tibetan sheep in Tianzhu wer e necrops ied from May 2014 to March 2015. PCR was us ed to identify the species of gastrointestinal nematodes. 9 spec ies of gastrointestinal nematodes were detected, namely Ostertagia occidentalis, Cooperia oncophora, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Nemat odi rus helvetianus, Tri churis discol or, Tel adorsagia ci rcumcin cta, Trichost rongylus colubrif ormi and Haemonchus contortus. The gastrointestinal nematode inf ection rate in Maqu yaks and Tibetan heep were 72.2% and 91. 4% respectively; the gastrointestinal nematode infection rate in T ianzhu yaks and Tibet an sheep were 29.0% and 75.6% r espectively. Ther e are two peaks of the gastr ointestinal nematode count in Tibetan sheep and yaks, one is spring high tide in June and May, the other is autumn high tide in October and September. To date, ther e is not information about the prevalence and molecular character ization of G. duodenali s infection in white yaks. In the present study, a total of 208 white yak fecal samples were collected from T ianzhu T ibetan Autonomous County(TT AC) between S eptember 2013 and March 2014. Of the 208 white yak fecal samples, four samples(1.92%, all collected in March 2014) tested G. duodenalis- pos itive by PCR amplif ic ation of tr ios ephosphate is omer ase(tpi) gene. Sequence analys is conf irmed the pr esence of G. duodenalis assemblage E. The pres ent study revealed the presence and genotype of G. duodenalis in white yaks for the f irst time, and extended the host range of G. duodenalis. These results provided us eful inf ormation for further genotyping or subtyping studies of G. duodenalis in white yaks.Ivermectin troche, Ivermectin injection and Compound Mixtur e(Ivermectin 10 mg, Albendazole 350 mg) wer e us ed in the d eworming test. It is shown that Ivermectin injection is the most useful medic ine. Theref ore, the advice of pr eventing and treat ing gastrointestinal nematodes is to use Ivermectin Injection. The pr esent study showed that, the inf ection of gastrointestinal nematodes in yaks and Tibetan sheep is s er ious both in Maqu and Tianzhu counties, Gansu Province. According to the epidemic dynamics, in addition to strengthen the herdsmen’s understanding of par as itic diseas es, science of gr azing animal management and f ecal harmless treatment regular deworming should be executed. For the pr evention of anthelmintic r esistance in front of the spring and autumn two climaxes can also be in bef ore enter ing the winter and the tr ans itions of insect repellent, in favor of grassland natural purification, to reduce parasitic diseases.
