Health Care Effects Of "Zhukangsan" On The Levels Of Immune Globulin And Cytokines Of Weaned Piglets Artificially Challenged By PRRSV

Abstract/Summary:
The aim of this study was to investigate health care effects of different dosage of complex Chinese crude drug "Zhukangsan" on the levels of immune globulin and cytokines of weaned piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV, and in order to reveal the prophylactic effects of complex Chinese crude drug "Zhukangsan" on PRRSV, then provided scientific basis for pig production. Forty piglets of 28-day-old were divided randomly into 5 groups treated with virus and negative group (Ⅰ), positive group (Ⅱ), 0.5%(Ⅲ), and 1.0%(IⅣ). After 7 days adaptation to dietary daidzein, Group Ⅲ and group IV were given drug (Zhukangsan) at 0.5% and 1.0% in the forage at 36 to 39-day-old, respectively, then all groups except group I were inoculated PRRSV SCM 1.0 mL at 40-day-old. Four piglets from each group were selected randomly for obtaining blood samples from the jugular vein for imrnunoglobulin and cytokines analysis at 40,45, 50,55, and 60 days of age, respectively.The results showed that (1) during the whole experiment period, compared with the negative group and positive group, the two groups of traditional Chinese medicine could improve markedly (P<0.01 or 0.05) the levels of IgG, IgM and IgA in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV, and the effects were kept for a long time; the values of IgG, IgM and IgA in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV of the group of 1.0% traditional Chinese medicine were higher than those of the group of 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine among the whole experimental period, in addition to there was no difference (P>0.05) between the level of IgG in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV of the group of 1.0% traditional Chinese medicine and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine at 45 days of age, the levels of IgG, IgM and IgA in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV of the group of 1.0% traditional Chinese medicine were significantly higher (P<0.01 or 0.05) than those of the group of 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine. (2) during the whole experiment period, in addition to there was no difference (P >0.05) between 0.5% "Zhukangsan" group and negative group on the level of IL-2 in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV on day 40, and there was no difference (P>0.05) between 0.5% "Zhukangsan" group and positive group on the level of IL-6 in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV on day 60, the two groups of traditional Chinese medicine could improved markedly (P<0.01 or 0.05) the levels of IL-2、IL-6、 IL-10、IL-12、IFN-α、IFN-y and TNF-a in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV, and the effects were kept for a long time. The values of IL-2、IL-6、IL-10、IL-12、 IFN-α、IFN-γ and TNF-a in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV of the group of 1.0% traditional Chinese medicine were higher than those of the group of 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine among the whole experimental period, in addition to there was no difference (P>0.05) between the level of IL-6 on day 40 in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV of the group of 1.0% traditional Chinese medicine and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine, the levels of IL-2、IL、IL-10、IL-12、IFN-α、IFN-γ and TNF-a in serum of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV of the group of 1.0% traditional Chinese medicine were significantly higher (P<0.01 or 0.05) than those of the group of 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine.In conclusion,0.5% and 1.0% complex Chinese crude drug "Zhukangsan" in the forage could improve the levels of the immunoglobulin and cytokines of piglets artificially challenged by PRRSV, then humoral immunity and cellular immunity were enhanced, thereby build up resistance of piglets to PRRSV.
