Our country is a main tobacco leaf producer, but tobacco stems’pulling mechanization degree is lower. Existing tobacco stalk pullers are mostly used with tractors, it can’t be applied in the mountainous and hilly tobacco-growing farmlands, in which still rely on manual work. It’s labour-intensive and inefficient. Aiming at this problem, proposes a design of tobacco stalk puller in split ridge and plane digging type. Key components of tobacco stalk puller are analyzed and designed and established the virtual prototype.(1)Through the comparison of existing tobacco stalk puller machines, based on mountainous and hilly working environment, we put forward a tobacco stalk puller in split ridge and plane digging type. The machine uses miniature multi-function chassis as supporting power. The machine including ridge dismantle blades, pull rod knife roller, depth-controlled component, transmission mechanism, protective barrier, limit deep mechanism connection rack and hitching component, etc. The structure of the machine is simple, turning radius is small. (2) Through theoretical analysis and experimental verification, we carried on a research about working mechanisms of the ridge dismantle blades, analysis shows that the blade’s installation offset angle and tilted angle, blade arrangement, speed of blade’s spindle, speed of advance all have influences on the performance of ridge dismantle blades. Set up the motion parameter to analyse the trajectory and key working parameters of ridge dismantle blades; expounded the influences of the ridge dismantle blades’power consumption; Experimental results show that the ridge dismantle blades have good effects on cutting soil and throw soil performance requirements, can can finish the ridge dismantle work. improved the blade, designed a ridge dismantle blade for ridge work. Experimental results show that the ridge dismantle blade meet the requirements.(3). By establishing the equations of motion to study the operating principle and the motion of the pull rod knife roller, analyzed the technical characteristics differences of inversion pull rod knife roller. Based on standard rotary machetes devised a inversion pull rod knife roller that can pull out tobacco stems, the tests showed that the pull rod knife roller can satisfy cutting soil and throw soil performance requirements when the excavate tobacco stems. (4) Based on the research results of the working parts, the machine’s structure and parameter configuration are designed in detail, the mating power rating is class 7.5 kW gasoline engine or diesel engine. (5) Using CATIA to establish virtual prototype model of tobacco stalk puller machine for interference analysis and motion simulation, the result shows that the prototype does not exist unreasonable interference phenomenons. Do a blade statics analysis based on CATIA, the result shows that blade’s strength is meets the requirements.Experimental results show that the ridge dismantle blades and pull rod knife roller can satisfy the requirements. The prototype structure and motion parameters design are reasonable. It’s laid a foundation for further development of tobacco stalk pullers and provide a theoretical reference.
