Spathiphyllum belongs to Araceae family and because of the strong tolerance of shade, So it is an important indoor ornamental plant in our lives. In recent years, the disease which caused by Cylindrocladium spathiphylli has affected the production and ornamental value of Spathiphyllum seriously and it has been a common fungal disease which brought Spathiphyllum high incidence and strong pathogenic. At present, the effect of chemical control is not ideal and the cost is high, So the resistance breeding is an effective way to solve this problem. The five varieties(Spathiphyllum cannifolium、 Spathiphyllum floribundum、Spathiphyllum’Coddy color’、Spathiphyllum’Tyler Green’and Spathiphyllum’Parrish’) were the material of the trial, We studied on the appraisal method and resistance mechanism, the main results were shown as follow:1 We isolated pathogen from the diseased plants of Spathiphyllum,By determining morphology and pathogenicity, the pathogen was C.spathiphylli. In the process of training, the scuffing mycelium promoted pathogen produced a large number of conidium. 2 The determination of disease resistance of the five varieties of Spathiphyllum when innoculated with pouring the root in he greenhouse showed:S. cannifolium and S. floribundum showed resistance to C.spathiphylli. The disease index of three varieties (S.’Coddy color’、S.’Tyler Green’ ' S.’Parrish’) were high, three of them showed susceptible.3 Leaf inoculation can reflect the root resistance. The comparison between methods in vitro (hypha and spore) and pour root in greenhouse showed that there was a significant correlation between them. Spore concentration of inocula and plant age have little effect on evaluation result, moisturizing situation after inoculation has great influence on disease index.4 The physiological and biochemical characters of the five varieties resistant to disease were studied, the results showed that significant differences exist between resistance and susceptible on total phenol content, PPO and PAL activity. Both PPO and PAL activity are improved after innoculation, which significant differences with control. The activity of resistance reached the peak faster than susceptible. The total phenol content of resistance had larger fluctuation after innoculation, no obvious regularity, while susceptible significant differences with control group after innoculation. Total phenolic content changes after innoculation can not reflect the resistance difference between varieties.
