The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of transgenic maize rich in vitamin or supplemented with exogenous synthetic vitamins E on growth performance, α-tocopherol content in serum, antioxidant capacity and serum biochemical indexes of AA broilers fed diets based on corn and soybean during 0~3week age. This work will be beneficial for popularizing the transgenic maize rich in vitamin E in the poultry industry. The test design was single factor randomized trial design. Four hundred and eighty one-day-old AA male broilers were randomly allocated to three treatments with eight replicates per treatment and 20 birds in each replicate, and the experimental periods were 21 days. The broilers were fed with corn-soybean diets(control 1, the content of vitamin E was 7.9mg/kg), control 1 diet plus 7.35mg/kg exogenous synthetic vitamins E(control 2, the content of vitamin E was 15.25mg/kg) and transgenic maize rich in vitamin E diet(the content of vitamin E was 15.25mg/kg).The results shown that:(1) As replaced the corn from corn-soybean based diets with transgenic corn(the content of vitamins E by diet was 15.25mg/kg), body weight gain, feed conversion rate and feed intake at day 0~7 and day 8~14 were not significant difference(P>0.05),the same case for the contents of alpha tocopherol, serum MDA, BUN, TG, TC, TP,ALB, GLB IL-2, activity of GSH-Px, T-SOD, ALT, AST and LDH at day 7 and day14(P>0.05), but the feed intake at both day 15~21 and day 0~21 was decreased, and the same case for the liver MDA content on day 21(P<0.05). Activity of GSH-Px and T-SOD were improved by day 7 and 21(P<0.05).(2) Supplemented with exogenous synthetic vitamins E into corn-soybean based diets(the content of vitamins E by diet was 15.25mg/kg), body weight gain, feed conversion rate and feed intake were not significant difference at day 0~21(P>0.05).The same case for the contents of alpha tocopherol, serum MDA, BUN, TG, TC, TP,ALB, GLB IL-2, activity of GSH-Px, T-SOD, ALT, AST and LDH at day 7 and day14(P>0.05). Activity of GSH-Px and T-SOD were improved by day 7 and 21(P<0.05).(3) Under the condition of this trial, there was the same biological value between vitamins E sourced from transgenic corn and exogenous synthetic vitamins E.Antioxidant capacity was improved for broilers fed diets containing the vitamin E by7.9mg/kg.
