With the development of the new rural construction in our country, articulated steering tractor has become one of main transportation style in the countryside of the southwest of our country. It is made of chassis of hand-held tractors and the trailer or other have the special function transport equipment. There is a steering wheel in the tractor towing trailer for transportation, which can be used driven the tractor. Articulated steering tractor structural is more special than general goods vehicle and some factors such as the irrational use of design parameter, operating parameter, result in some dangerous phenomenon which is including off tracking, swing and jack knifing while braking. Therefore, this project will focus on the research of parameters of design and operating on braking performance. So that the braking force distribution would be optimized to improve the braking stability.Firstly, the model of articulated steering tractor is established in UG. The models of tire, surface and leaf spring are established in ADAMS/View and the accuracy of model is verified by actual expedients. Provides a reliable simulation platform for further research.Based on the model in ADAMS, the braking performance is testing after analyzing braking original speed, coefficient of braking force distribution and braking failure. the analysis show that reduce initial braking speed, four-wheel braking and optimization the braking force distribution which can improve brake stability of articulated steering tractor.By the analysis of the braking instability dynamics theory of articulated steering tractor. There will be a severe braking instability which is in unreasonable braking force distribution coefficient. So the best braking lock count of articulated steering tractor isⅠaxle-Ⅱaxle. What is more, when the utilization adhesion coefficient are closed to severity of braking, coefficient of braking force distribution will be the best. Therefore, the theoretical for the braking force distribution is provided. Finally, in order to improve the braking performance of the tractor, coefficient of braking force distribution will be optimized in optimization tool of MATLAB. The best coefficient of braking force distribution is 0.55:0.45, which would be verified using the model in ADAMS. The test date show that the coefficient of braking force distribution improves the stability of braking in a turn which has been optimized.
