The hygiene and quality of feedstuff and drinking water for beef cattle are extremely important which are closely related to the security and quality of animal products. The quality and safety of animal products are increasingly concerned by the people all over the world. In comparison of legislation, supervision and technological research on animal production in China with those in developed countries, there are still certain distances in between. In present study the hygiene and quality of feedstuff and drinking water for beef cattle production in Xinjiang were investigated in four typical collective beef cattle farms, 2 in Yili area and 2 in Akesu area, the coliform bacteria, mould, nitrite and physiochemical parameters in feedstuff and drinking water were detected by means of national standard methods, the differences of aforementioned parameters between Yili and Akesu were compared with each other. In addition, the 2 farms from Yili area were taken as an example the seasonal changes of the hygiene and quality of feedstuff and drinking water for beef cattle were analyzed. The results showed that 1)in general, the nitrite content in the feedstuff and sulfate content in drinking water were main risk factors in Akesu beef cattle farms, whereas in Yili beef cattle farms the coliform bacteria in feedstuff was the main risk factor. 2)in Yili farms the MPN of coliform bacteria in the drinking water was exceeded the limit of national standard in the spring and autumn, in which the rate of exceed standard in spring was 100%, whereas in the feedstuff MPN of coliform bacteria, mould content were detected 100% in spring and autumn but not exceeded the limit of national standard in the entirety. 3)in general the all physiochemical parameters detected in drinking water between 3 seasons in Yili farms met the national standard but with the nitrite content in feedstuff in spring and wither over the limit of national standard by 60%. 4)the heavy metals tested in the feed stuff and drinking water from Yili farms in3 seasons were met the national standard except that the cadmium content in drinking water in the spring was over the national standard. In present study the hygiene and quality of feedstuff and drinking water in terms of the differences between farms in Yili and Akesu area and the changes in different seasons in Yili farms were evaluated more comprehensively, which provides an important scientific basis for the risk control for beef cattle production in Xinjiang. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Beef cattle, Feedstuff, Drinking water, Microorganism, Physio-chemical parameter, Heavy metal | | Related items |
