Wampee belongs to the Clausena genus of the Rutaceae family and is a tropical and subtropical evergreen fruit tree. Wampee originates from southern China where there are rich genetic resources. Now there are more than30species in the world, among which there are11species originated in China. Clausena lansium (Lour.) Skeels.and Clausena anisumolens (Blanco)Merr. are widely distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan Province, etc with over1500years of cultivation history. Wampee is also a rare and special fruit tree in southern China. Wampee germplasm resources investigation, collection and related basic researches have been launched in Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan Province mainly including cultivation, storage, preservation, processing, nutritional ingredient, medical value, physiology and biochemistry. Wampee is distributed in coastal areas from Fuzhou to Zhaoan in Fujian Province with abundant genetic resources. Some wampee genetic resources have been investigated and collected. However, more works of wampee should be done for further research and development. In our study wampee germplasm resources in Fujian province were collected and analysed. Based on their characteristics,15lines had excellent performance. Identification and genetic relationship of15lines were also analyzed by SRAP molecular markers in order to provide a scientific basis for variety protection and germplasm innovationin. In addition, genetic background of the above wampee could be provided for other researchers for in-depth study. The results were as follows:1. There were botanical characteristics diversity of wampee germplasm resources, showing round, oval, umbrella and irregularly tree shape, half opened, opened and ptosis tree pose, strong, medium and weak trees vigor, broadly ovate, oblong, ovate and oblong leave shape. Leaves are evergreen and odd pinnate. The number of compound leaves is6-12while the number of leaves is7-13. Annual branches are green. Flowers are bisexual and more and conical inflorescence is cymose. The fruit shape is long chicken heart-shaped, heart-shaped, suborbicular. There are two kinds of sweet and sour, sour and sweet fruit flavors.2. Wampee sprout period, flowering and maturity stage are relatively earlier In Zhangpu and Yunxiao than in Luoyuan because Luoyuan is located in Northern wampee distribution region and it may be related to autologous characteristics of wampee germplasm resources and its geographical location and climatic conditions. Fujian Province is in the northernmost planting area of wampee. So, according to different fruit mature period, corresponding measures should be take in production, the proportion of late maturing varieties should be improved for long supply period of fresh fruit and then economic benefits of wampee production were improve.3. Through comprehensive evaluation of30wampee germplasm resources,15excellent wampee lines were preliminarily selected including BaiSha No.1, Baisha No.2, Baisha No.3, Baisha No.4, Baisha No.5, Baisha No.6, Shangjie No.3, Shangjie No.4, Yunxiao No.1, Yunxiao No.2,Zhangpu No.3, Zhangpu No.5,Nanyu No.2, Luoyuan No.3and Xindian No.3. It would be a basis for further research on breeding new varieties.4. SRAP molecular marker system of wampee was established and special markers were obtained to identify15wampee germplasm resources. By this marker system DNA fingerprints of15wampee germplasm resources were established which analysis.5. The above15superior lines had huge potential in new variety breeding, cross breeding, radiation breeding etc. These lines could be used for new varieties creation by breeding and artificial selection. With their superior characteristics cross breeding could be carried out for wampee genetic improvement by combination of favorable genes. By radiation, these lines could be diversitified for new cultivars.
