With the growing scarcity of forest resources as well as international tourism island and the construction of ecological province continuously pushed forward in Hainan, the important role of the ecological forest gradually emerged and build a sound scientific ecological forest system was imminent. For the Jianfengling ecological forest status quo, how to build a reasonable ecological forest composition, improve the quality of ecological forest, nurture a healthy and sustainable public welfare forest ecosystem were the urgent problems to solve. The ecological forest status quo of the study area were studied based on the theory of ecological forest and forest health evaluation theory and the countermeasures were management, and then scientific bases for decision making were provided for the sustainable management of Jianfengling ecological forest. The main contents and conclusions of this paper were as follows.(1) The constitution of ecological forest resources in the study area were studied from the stand composition, stand quality and forest ecological conditions.(2) The stand composition structure of ecological forest was studied from the structure of various types of land area, all kinds of accumulation composition, forest structure, dominant tree species (group) structure, the structure of the age group, canopy density structure and origin of structure. This area was mainly ecological forest, mixed forest was majority, the overall canopy was high, middle-aged forest was dominant and the majority of the forest was natural forest.(3) The quality of the ecological forest was studied from volume per unit area, the average canopy density and age group structure. The overall quality of the ecological forest was good with a well growth potential, and especially artificial tree forest and broad-leaved mixed with better quality of plantation and natural forest quality. There existed some problems such as structural imbalances of age group. It was appropriate to adjust the structure of the age group in order to improve the stability of forest ecosystems, and to increase their ability to resist natural disasters.(4) The forest ecological status of ecological forest was studied from forest structure, forest naturalness and biodiversity. This area was rich in biodiversity, forest community structure was relatively complete and the majority of the ecological forest with a high degree of natural suffered from a lesser extent by human disturbance.(5) The ecological forest health evaluation index system was constructed by selecting9indexes from structural, sustainability and productivity status of the ecological forest based on the level of small class. KMO and Bartlett sphericity test were made for the evaluation indicators and the results showed that it was suitable for factor analysis.2principal components were extracted from the9primal factors. The cumulative variance contribution rate was79.611%. The result of the main component extraction called for the research requirements.(6) Ecological forest of the study area did not exist quality forest small classes. The number of health, sub-health, unhealthy and disease small class respectively accounted for the total by56.35%,14.97%,27.34%and1.34%. The overall health level of the ecological forest small classes was high. The healthy small class distribution was more focus on contiguous. The average area of small classes was larger. The stand type was mainly broad-leaved mixed. The structure of species composition was complex. The stand density, average height and average diameter were larger and the stand naturalness was high.(7) Putting forward the management countermeasures of ecological forest. The management countermeasures of ecological forest in Jianfengling was put forward from the views of raising awareness of ecological forest protection, strengthen the legal system construction and management mechanism and innovating technology management to solve the problems of ecological forest in sustainable management.
