Grain is an important subsistence of a country, but due to poor natural conditions change in modern society, the strategic grain reserve has become a key issue concerning about people’s livelihood. From the food preservation, the current grain storage monitoring technology is not enough to deal with unexpected situations, which lead to many unnecessary losses. In order to reduce food losses during storage, this paper combines the PLC controller, ZigBee wireless networking protocol and modern sensor technology researches and designs a smart barn system.Through analyzing the special environment of the grain storage and researching monitoring control system of the barn, on the basis of modern monitoring and control technology, put forward a system which based on ZigBee wireless network and PLC. The wireless sensor networks monitor the parameters in the granary and the PLC controls motor to achieve the goal. The system can effectively implement food safety supervision and is helpful for intelligent management of granary.Overall design of the system is divided into five layers:the establishment of ZigBee networks, data acquisition of temperature and humidity inside the granary, the data from coordinator to PC, the displays of temperature and humidity in PC software, the PC sends the handled data to the PLC. First the coordinator establish a network, each router and terminal node joins the network, then collected signals by integrating the wireless chip CC2530temperature sensor and humidity sensor, and then through the router to pass to the coordinator, the coordinator will bring together the information to a PC, via PC program can be real-time monitoring the environmental parameters for each specific location of the barn, while the PLC through logic judgment to decide whether to start the motor on the implementation of the barn ventilation and out fire. The main work includes:design underlying hardware circuit, establish ZigBee network and synchronization time, build a PC control interface, set up the communications between coordinator and PC, and PC with PLC, control the motor by PLC.At present the grain monitoring system in our country have not been combined with the emergency control system, which makes a large amount of information data cannot be effectively used. Before dangers come, we cannot provide alarm information and make the right quick response when no people are there. Therefore, combining warehouse monitoring system with control center will be of great significance. Through this study, put forward the concept of monitoring the various grain granaries, conducted a needs analysis technology that can effectively achieve the granary of data acquisition and control, promote the development of information technology.
