Landscaping construction has become the most important part of city construction.As one of basic elements of landscaping and landscape design, garden plants have a widevariety, adaptability and viewing obviously, and play an important benefits in ecological,economic and social. In the growth process, garden plants are often subjected to diseasesand insects violations, which will affect afforestation and beautification of city, and evenbring about serious economic loss. Meanwhile, species of diseases and insect pests ofgarden plants are complex, which makes scientific diagnosis and effective prevention andtreatment difficult.Currently, there is no specific research for garden plants pest expert systems inHebei. Relevant documents have been consulted, relevant experts in the field have beeninterviewed and field surveys, a garden plant diseases and insect pests diagnosis expertsystem which based on network have been developed in this study to control pestseffectively and scientifically and to popularize the knowledge of garden plant protection,which can diagnosis accurately and provide appropriate measures for pests and diseasesin the growth process of garden plants. Based on sufficient system requirement analysis,this paper identified three-layer distributed architecture which based on B/S mode,Dreamweaver8.0used as development platform, HTML, CSS, JavaScript were adoptedas development languages, database management function of Microsoft Excel as well asIE browser ActiveX controls were used to complete development and implementation ofthe system. The main results showed as follows:1. Database of diseases and insect pests of common garden plants of Hebei provincehave been arranged, which included62plants species,83diseases information,129insect pests information,84diseases picture and152pictures of insect pests.2. The knowledge base of diseases and insect pests diagnosis of garden plants havebeen established. Based on rule-based knowledge representation and multiple tree reasoning strategies was adopted, retrieval table of plant diseases and insect pests wascompiled which based on characteristics of symptoms and harm parts of the plant.Diagnosis decision tree of knowledge was formed by searching each garden plantdiseases and insect pests and Excel files were used to storage, finally, the whole systemof diseases and insect pests diagnosis knowledge base was established.3. The system of garden plant pest diagnosis experts was developed. According tothe principle of practicality, the system of expert which included pest diagnosis, diseaseand pest atlas query was developed which used the forward reasoning strategy andcombined with artificial intelligence, computer technology and database technology.4. The system of garden plant disease and pest diagnosis has function of friendlyinterface, strong operability and better diagnosis and query by testing and exampling,which can diagnosis diseases and insect pests accurately and run smoothly.This system can conduct one-time diagnosis by making use of characteristics ofdamage parts and symptoms, which can reduce recognition time of users, improve theefficiency and have a good application value. Along with the continuous development ofinformation technology and expert system, this system will play a better role in gardenplant diseases and insect pests diagnosis.
