This study had carefully observed the biological characteristics and ecological behaviors of C. ptilosperma, which introduced to the Nanning Yellow Camellia Germplasm Bank, and explored the cuttage techniques of C. ptilosperma, discussed the rootage effects of different cutting medium, different kinds and concentrations of the root-inducing regulators. The biological characteristics and ecological behaviors have been known well, the suitable cutting medium, and the appropriate kinds and concentrations of the root-inducing regulator have been mastered in this study.1. The morphological features of the C. ptilosperma as follow:shoots are reddish brown, glabrous, old branches are brown. New leaves are violet red, glabrous, old leaves elliptical or oblong, caudate apex is acuminate, leaf base is wide cuneate. Solitary or 2 flowers axillary or acrogenous, bud period appear violet red or light red, blooming appear yellow with purple plaque. Flower diameter 3.5-4.5cm, flower has 8-12 petals, oval or obovate. The ovary is nearly spherical, glabrous. Three stigmas completely separated, glabrous. Capsule nearly triangular and globose shape, has 3 loculi. Seed is black brown, densely pubescent.2. Integrating the two phenological observation cycle resulted in 2012 and 2013, it has known that C. ptilosperma has 2 sprouting periods, leaf-expansion periods and shoot-elongation periods. The first sprouting period happens in June, the second in September. The leaf-expansion periods and shoot-elongation periods will appear after the sprouting period. C. ptilosperma blooms all year round, flowering from late April or early may, blooming in mid-to-end of May, and there are a few flowers bloom from June to the next March. The fruit ripens in early to mid of May, fall off in the end of May or early June. C. ptilosperma is a kind of evergreen tree, has no leaf abscission.3. From the survey results of cold resistance, it has known that the cold resistance average of the C. ptilosperma is 1, which introduced to the Nanning Yellow Camellia Germplasm Bank, the cold resistance assessment level is top grade, when the extremely low temperature minus 18℃ in 2014. It has good cold resistance.4. The investigation results of resists disease in a growth stage show that the C. ptilosperma has stronger ability to resist diseases and pests, the resist diseases and pests average is 1.2, the diseases and pests resistance assessment level is top grade, when it is planted in the Nanning Yellow Camellia Germplasm Bank.5. The rooting rates were significant difference between different medium formulas in cutting propagation of C. ptilosperma. Rooting rates and rooting indexes of different cutting substrates show that the yellow mud sand mixed matrix> yellow mud> river sand> perlite, the rooting rate at 45.63%-86.72%.The medium formulas which contain yellow mud and sand was obviously superior to the others, its rooting rate is 86.72%, the average root number up to 11.47, and average root length is 9.89 cm, rooting index of 94.18. So, the mixture was considered as the most suitable medium for C.ptilosperma.6. The effects of root-inducing regulators for cutting plantation were different between different kinds and concentrations. Compared with control, the rooting indexes of the treatments were increased, some of them have reached an extremely remarkable level. In all treatments, the rooting rate could reach to about 80% of cutting which were processed with 100 mg·L-1,300 mg·L-1 NAA,500 mg·L-1IBA and 300 mg·L-1 ABTl. By the comprehensive Comparison of various parameters, the rooting effect of 100 mg·L-1 NAA soaking treatment is the best, its rooting rate,93.69%, and average root number, 15.27 are the highest, average root length in second,9.07 cm. The rooting index is 129.81, also the highest. In conclusion, considering of the best effect, cutting with 100 mg·L-1 NAA to promote rooting should be used in production.
