| The high generation inbred line of muskmelon 05-6 was grown in plastic greenhouse to investigate the fruit and seed development, the effects of seed germination in fruit on important nutrients in fruit, and on the yield and quality of the seeds so to understand the harm of seed germination in fruit, and the resolution of this problem in fruit storage and seed production. The main results were as follows.(1) For the inbred line of muskmelon 05-6, the fruit booming stage was within the 15 days after pollination, the seed plumpness reached maximum and the seed development was complete in 26 days after pollination, and the thousand-seed weight showed no more increase after this time. The fruit maturity reached full physiologically in 32 days after pollination.(2) The seed germination in fruit occurred in 35 days after pollination in the muskmelon variety 05-6, and this did not decrease the contents of soluble solids and vitamin C, and did not increase the content of organic acids.(3) The rate of seed germination in fruit rose with the fruit maturity in the inbred line of muskmelon 05-6. The seed germination in fruit decreased the seed plumpness and so the seed yield.(4) For the inbred line of muskmelon 05-6, the rate of full seed germination each melon and survived seedling rate reached maximum levels for the seeds from 26th day to 28th day after pollination. |
