The paper is aimed at the effect of feeding newborn calves colostrum by different projects on absorption of 1g G Choose a better method of feeding in practice according to the result of study. The paper will discuss the projects from two methods of feeding colostrum. The calves of experiment were picked out healthy Holstein female calves that their age is within 2 hours in a certain large scale dairy farm. The calves were divided two groups. The calves were fed 2.5L of maternal colostrum with nipple bottle in the first group (n=20). The esophageal feeder is used to feed 2.5L of maternal colostrum to the second group calves (n=20). All calves must be fed in the first two hours of their life. Efficiency of IgG absorption will be assessed by measuring serum IgG concentration at 24h after fed. The colostrum and serum samples were diluted by 1:6000 and 1:1500, respectively. The colostrum and serum IgG concentration will be measured with the double-antibody enzyme linked immunosorbent assay test. The straight line regression equation of the standard curve is y=0.1476x-0.1441 and its correlation coefficient is R2=0.9969. In the first group, the mean of efficiency of absorption of IgG is 26.96% and the second group is 25.14%.The conclusion which comes from the statistical analysis of experiment data shows that there is no obvious difference between feeding newborn calves with nipple bottle and esophageal feeder on the efficiency of IgG absorption. And so the two methods of feeding colostrum all can be used to be the common method in the colostrum management for neonatal calves. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Newborn calf, Colostrum, Immunoglobulin G, Methods of Feeding, ELISA | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
