Cotton is an important economic crop, which is widely cultivated throughout world. At present, China is the largest country to produce and consume cotton.At present, the level of mechanization of cotton production in China is generally low, cotton fiber quality is difficult to meet the requirements of high spinning, and verticillium wilt’s harm is serious. Cotton germplasm resources contain abundant genetic information and lay a foundation for genetic improvement and breeding. So, collection, conservation, evaluation and utilization of cotton germplasm resources will promote the production of cotton in China. In this paper, the life cycle, the main yield characters, fiber quality and the resistance to verticillium wilt of the domestic 75 cotton germplasm resources were evaluated, the main results are as follows:All of these 75 cotton germplasm resources belong to the precocious materials. Their height are short and their yield traits are good. Of them, 61 are boll opening smooth materials; 4 showing tubular architecture are proper to mechanization. Especailly, 4 materials have early maturity, high content of lint, plant type cluster, boll opening simultaneously.But, the ability to resist to Verticillium wilt of 75 cotton germplasm resources is weak. Only eight materials can resist to verticillium wilt.The fiber length of these 75 cotton germplasm resources is moderate and, general index is higher. The material is no obvious difference between the fiber quality of these materials. fiber length of 22 materials is more than 30 mm(including 30 mm),Especially, one material show long wool. The breaking strength of 59 materials is more than 29cN/tex(including 29cN/tex).4 materials show high strength.Finally 22 materials show longer fiber, better breaking strength.MADS- BOX is one kind of widespread transcription factor that functions in the whole plant growth and development. AP1/FUL genes constitue one sub-family of plant MADS-box family. Up to now, many FUL(FRUITFULL) genes have been cloned. these genes display versatile functions, including regulation of flowering time, flower development and fruit development and leaf development, and so on. Genome of Brachypodium distachyon contains three FUL genes: BdFUL1, BdFUL2 a, BdFUL2 b.In order to study the function of BdFUL2 a, The coding sequence of this gene is amplified and the expression pattern was analyzed by quantitative RT-PCR. Preliminary results showed that BdFUL2 a, is expressed in stem and inflorescence. In floret, it is expressed in the glume, lemma and palea, suggesting its function as class A genes and regulating the development of lemma and palea.Then constructed the over-expression vector and transformed into Arabidopsis.In addition to early flowering, transgenic arabidopsis over-expressing BdFUL2 a showed abnormal stamen development and low fertility.
