Wild apricot refers to siberian apricot(Prunus sibirica L.) and common apricot(Prunus armeniaca L.) which widely distributes in northern China. Its kernals are valuable in food, cosmetics and health products. The quality of apricot kernels are identified by the physical characterization in "Apricot kernels quality level(GB / T 20452-2006)". Oil content and antioxidant activity is important for identifying quality of apricot kernels and zoning quality habitats. Besides, oil content and cyanide is significant differences in different habitats. Lacking of systematic research on this respect restricts processing enterprises choosing high quality raw materials of wild apricot and determining its stability.Oil content and antioxidant activity of apricot kernels from 24 counties in Beijing,Hebei,Shanxi,Shaanxi,Inner Mongolia,Liaoning, Xinjiang,Gansu eight provinces and autonomous regions were measured in this papaer.On this basis,hair microemulsion formulation could be researched by high quality wild apricot. The results were as follows:(1) Oil content of apricot kernels which was highest locted in counties of northern Shaanxi province was significantly different from the rest of seven provinces’. The kernels had higher oil content from Ansai,Linyou,Zhidan(Shaanxi province),and decreased gradually in western and eastern areas from this center.Generally,the kernels had higher oil content in western regions than the eastern ones.(2) Antioxidant activity of apricot oil was unstable or free radical scavenging rate could not change with the change of apricot concentrations by the method of pyrogallol,Fention and DPPH. However,the method of FRAP was sensitive to apricot oil. It could respond quickly even at a concentration of 6.25μg / ml and its antioxidant activity increased with the increasing concentrations of apricot oil, and showed a good linear relationship.(3) Antioxidant activity of apricot oil was not significantly difference in most provinces in addition to Longhua, Weichang, Pingquan of Hebei Province. And antioxidant activity of apricot oil in Inner Mongolia was significantly different from the the remaining sevenprovinces’.(4) The oil content between varieties was significant,which oil content of armeniaca apricot was higher than siberia’ s,while no significant difference in antioxidant activity.(5) Two categories were divided by method of principal component analysis based on the oil content,antioxidant activity, varieties,physical properties of apricot seedsand biological characteristics of apricot trees.Kernels from 15 counties Yanqing,Miyun,Pingquan, Longhua,Huocheng,Chaoyang,Linyou,Guangling,Weichang,Zhidan,Zhenyuan,Linxi,Ningcheng,Xinyuan,Gongliu had higher quality,and Gongliu was the best habitat.(6) Hair microemulsion which main material was apricot oil not only had the functions of high moisture resistance, promoting the cuticle closed, repairing damaged hair, but also possessed properties of stable performance, transparent appearance, high safe, spontaneous formation and no special equipment to mass production because of its active ingredient particles got NM level.
