Abstract/Summary:
Maize is one of the major crops in China, plays an important role in grain production. Drought which seriously affects the yield and quality of maize is a major abiotic environmental factor in maize production. To achieve the goal of high and stable yield, improving the drought resistance of maize especially at germination stage and seedling stage plays an important role in maize production. Plant growth regulator owns significant effect and high efficiency.In order to definite the effects of plant growth regulator DCPTA(2-(3,4-dichlorophenoxy1)-triethylamino)on the maize seed germination and seedlings growth under drought resistance of, Zhengdan 958,Xianyu 335 and Dongnong 253 were chosen as experimental material and 15% PEG-6000 was set up to simulate water stress. 0mg/L,0.5 mg/L,1.0 mg/L,1.5mg/L DCPTA were set in seed germination experiment; 0mg/L,20mg/L,50mg/L,80mg/L DCPTA were set in pot experiment.To provide theoretical and technical basis for the application of DCPTA in maize production. Conclusion :In seed germination experiment, the seed germination and the growth of maize seedling were inhibited, the activities of SOD,POD,CAT were significantly enhanced by water stress,while it promoted the accumulation of proline,decreased chlorophyll content,the characteristic of the initial fluorescence(F0)and maximum photochemical efficiency of PS â…¡(Fv/Fm)of maize seedling.Effect of water stress on the seed germination of Maize could be cushioned by treatment with appropriate concentration of DCPTA. DCPTA promoted the germination of seeds, germination potential, germination rate, germination index of drought resistance, the dry weight of radicle, plumule, radicle length, dry weight of stem length, storage substance transportation rate increased significantly under the condition of water stress, and the 1.0mg/L DCPTA treatment significantly improved seed germination.The results of pot experiment showed that, the spraying concentration of 20 mg/L, 50 mg/L, 80 mg/L DCPTA increased the activity of protective enzymes of maize seedlings, chlorophyll content, Fo and Fv/Fm values and the content of proline, and showed the trend: water treatment >80mg/L>50mg/ L >20mg/L> 0mg/L. 80mg/L DCPTA treatment improved the maize seedlings growth and development significantly. Under the condition of water stress, the content of ABA increased, decreased IAA, GA, ZR content. Spraying DCPTA treatment, the ABA accumulation decreased, increased IAA, GA, ZR content.There were significant differences on drought resistance among the varieties. The results showed that the order of drought resistance was Xianyu 335 >Zhengdan 958>Dongnong 253..Moreover,DCPTA treatment effect associated with drought resistance of maize varieties. Among the three varieties, The descending order of DCPTA effect is Dongnong 253 >Zhengdan 958>Xianyu 335.
