There were some problems which were complicated rice varieties, planting structure, agricultural techniques of the rice production in Xuancheng city. This study analyzed the production situation of rice, planting structure, the main rice planting types and characteristics, new cultivation technology application situation and the existing problems in Xuancheng city and discusses the ways of strengthening rice variety breeding and application, optimized the key technical measures which increased the yield of rice that based on the application of rice varieties, planting structure, cultivation key techniques. The results had the important reference in the rice varieties breeding, adjusting the plant structure techniques, application an dextension of new plant techniques.1. Xuancheng is the major rice producing areas which ranked sixth in Anhui province. Rice area was 162,200 hm2 which accounted for about 75% and the outputs were 1.0662 million tons which accounts for about 83% in the rice production of Anhui province. So the rice production was very important for the increasing of plant areas and yield and the food security in the region.2. The one-season rice and double-season rice coexisted in Xuancheng city. One-season rice accounted for about 68.4% and increased gradually in recent years, while the double-season rice decreased because of strain crops for rotation and heavy labour intensity. The double-season rice felled 0.266 hm2 because of strain crops for rotation. So it was very important to strengthen the breeding of double-season and generalize simplified cultivation techniques. the rice mainly because of stubbles problem.3. rice planting is given priority to with The indica rice was mainly rice variety in Xuancheng city. The percentage of indica, japonica and glutinous rice was about 7:2:1. The annual indica rice area was effect by glutinous rice market. So it was very important to strength the extension and related techniques of one-season japonica for the increase of yield.4. Xuanzhou district was the biggest cropping region wich accounting for 84% of the early rice,80% of the double season late rice,70% japonica rice,67% glutinous rice,30% of indica rice. So it was very important to stabilize the double-season rice areas, develop the one-season japonica rice and increase the yield per units in Xuancheng district while mainly middle indica rice and balance the japonica rice in Langxi district and mainly middle indica rice and balance double-season rice in Jingxian district.5. Early rice which was conventional rice 3th was mainly in Xuancheng city and middle-season rice were Guangzhan 63s, Y585 and their descendant which were high yield and better quality. The double late indica rice was combination with FenguanA. The traditional japonica rice were mainly Wuyunjing 7 and Ningjing 3. The high or low temperature resistance was considered during the varieties screening with the cultivation techniques.6. The main planting forms were direct seeding, transplanting, throwing transplantation and machine-transplanted seeding with the percentage of 2.4:1.1:1:2 in rice production structure. The direct seeding accounted for 37% and should be practicable with key techniques. The early rice and japonica rice should be direct seeding, double-season rice should be used throwing transplantation, middle-season rice adopted transplanting and single-season rice should be used machine-transplanted seeding in rice production.
