Fertilization is one of the important agronomic measures to improve tomato and melon production. However, improper applications of fertilizers lead to decreased yield and low fruit quality in production. This study applied different fertilizing methods to improve fruit quality in order to get better quality fruits and higher yield.Tomato cultivar ‘Difenni’ and melon ‘Moyu’ ‘Fenglun NO.8’ ‘Lvxiangtian’ were materials in three experiments in this research. The tomato experiments were two-factor-random-block, set two factors: based fertilization and spraying fertilization, and four levels in each factor, to study the effect of the different amounts and different ways of silicon for the tomato growth and quality. The second experiment was trial of silicon application in different time of tomato. Treatments were set as began to sprayed 1.42g/L silicon fertilizer in 3 period: 10 days after field planting, first fruit set and the green ripe stage in the first fruit. The third experiment was trial of using different kinds of fertilization to find the best way to increase the content of the sugar inside melons. The major findings were summarized as follows:1. The result showed that 10 kg/667m2 silicon fertilization as basic fertilizer could increase plant height, yield, content of soluble sugar and vitamin C, meantime content of organic acid has dramatically decreased. In addition, using the basic silicon fertilizer 5 kg/667m2 and spraying the silicon fertilizer 2 g/L meanwhile could increase leaf area, yield, content of soluble sugar, lycopene and obviously decrease content of organic acid.2. Spraying the silicon fertilizer 2 g/L 10 days after field planting could increase the plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, chlorophyll content, yield, content of soluble sugar, lycopene, and significantly decrease content of organic acid.3. The self-made fertilizer as the base fertilization 12 kg/667m2 or the silicon fertilization 5 kg/667m2 could increase the plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, meanwhile increased soluble solid content, glucose content, fructose content and sucrose content.
