Effect Of Different Vegetative Propagation Techniques On Rooting Of Apple Rootstocks

In this research, apple rootstocks T337、M26、MM106 and Malus prunifolia var.ringo were used as experimental materials, The purpose of this study is to explore the most affordable technology and methods of producing the apple rootstocks, by exploring the main factors of apple rootstock rooting of propagation techniques like tissue culture, layering and cuttings. The study can lay the technical foundation for producing mass apple self-rooted rootstocks rapidly, and provide a reliable technology and theory foundation for factory nursery. We obtain the following main results.1、By the tissue culture test, whose medium is composed by different hormones concentration, we screened out the medium which are conducive to rooting of Malus prunifolia var.ringo 、 M26 、 MM106 and T337.The optimal rooting medium for Malus prunifolia var.ringo、M26 and MM106 was 1/2 MS + IBA 1.2 mg / L. The optimal rooting medium for T337 was 1/2 MS + IBA 1. 0 mg/L.2、Softwood cuttings trial is done with different rooting powder. The results found that hormone treatments can promote apple rootstocks rooting rates, in terms of capacity to root,MM106> M26> T337.The highest rates for MM106 was 74%(IBA 3500mg/L,10s), followed by M26, the highest rates was 32%(IBA 3500mg/L,10s), and the worst is T337,only 8%(NAA 2500mg/L,10s).3、There are significant difference between varieties of apple rootstocks hardwood cuttings. The Malus prunifolia var.ringo rooting rates was 100% of every treatment, followed by MM106(14%), M26(10%), the worst is T337, its rooting rates was 0.4、Layering trial’s results showed that, the stroma can have an certain impact on layering rooting. When the stroma is soil and sawdust(50:50 ratios), the branch number, rooting rate, dry root weight was maximized. When the stroma is sawdust, the root number, total root length, total root surface area was maximized. The worst sawdust was soil and sand(50:50 ratios) for T337 rooting.
