Transplanting constitutes an important step in the production of spring onions. In China, spring onions breeding is dominated by field seedling-raising in which transplanting of emergence occurs when spring onion seedlings grow up. At present transplanting spring onions is primarily completed by human power which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. In addition, limited by the speed of artifical seedling-throwing, the existing spring onions transplanting machines are not high enough in operating efficiency, which restrictes the application of the transplanter. Therefore, it is necessary for the spring onions’ production to develop the throwing seedlings device in spring onions transplanting machine to replace artifical seedling- throwing and improve the speed of transplanting seedlings operation.In order to solve the above problems, the author analyzes the structure of existing seedling-throwing mechanism in transplanter, advances the success rate of throwing seedling by improving the present seedling-throwing mechanism and designs the new model of rapid seedling-throwing device in spring onions transplanting machine. Before the seedling throwing, spring onion seedlings are put into the seedling box with grids by manual operation. Then, the seedling box is placed on the throwing seedlings mechanism and the seedling box is pushed by the intermittent motion mechanism with a raw of onion seedlings throwing into supporting devices in transplanting machine in every intermittent motion. And after that, seedlings’roots also enter into the planting ditch opened by transplanter opener, the soil compacting device suppresses soil for spring onion seedlings’roots and supporting device releases spring onion seedlings to complete the transplanting. The supporting devices is used to hold the spring onion seedlings to prevent seedlings lodging when soil compacting device presses the soil. This new set of rapid seedling-throwing device changes artificial seedling-throwing into planting apparatus one by one to mechanical seedling- throwing raw by raw with the transplanting rate greatly enhanced.Main research contents include:to analyze the factors affecting success rate of picking seedlings and optimizing the structure’s parameters by experiment in the improved research of the existing seedling-throwing mechanism; to determine the designing scheme of the seedling-throwing device in new spring onions transplanting machine; to design the supporting mechanism, the reciprocating mechanism, the gear mechanism, the intermittent seedling-throwing mechanism and other components; to complete the three dimensional modeling and assembly of virtual prototypes’ parts by using Pro/E; to analyze the motion and force of important parts and optimize the mechanism’s design; to use Pro/E and ADAMS co-simulation to observe the motion characteristics of mechanism and verify the rationality of mechanism design.
