Trees are the main body of forest carbon sinks, and play an important role in carbon sequestration. The correct determination of tree species carbon content plays a fundamental role in correctly evaluating the existing forest carbon and comparing the carbon sequestration in different forest types. And it is of great significance for studying the consumption of energy and matter, accumulation, fixation and transformation. The method in this article of constructing carbon content equations has very important value in estimating the carbon content of different trees directly and accurately.Based on the eighth Shandong forest resources inventory, according to the volume, area, species distribution and the application value of the tree species, this study selected eight tree species to construct species carbon content equations and the general carbon content equations of Shandong Province. The eight tree species are the Japanese red pines, cypresses, black pines and Chinese pines in softwood species, and poplars, acacia, quercus and chestnut in broad leaved species. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) With the Japanese red pines, cypresses and acacia three tree species as the research object, through the field investigation, precise measurement of individual tree and organs carbon contents and construct the monadic carbon content equations and the binary carbon content equations. There is obvious relationship for satisfying the needs of the various tree species in carbon sink measuring and related research work.(2) Collected biomass regression models of black pines, Chinese pines, poplars, quercus and chestnut nationwide, substitute the tree height and DBH into the models and calculate the results. Though the comparison of standard deviation and coefficient of variation to get rid of the data leading to the coefficient of variation more than 30%, average the leftover data and construct the carbon content equations. The fitting effect of the carbon content equations was perfect.(3) Following the carbon content equations of conifers and broad leaf trees, this study sets up the general carbon content equations of Shandong province. The general carbon content equations not only provides basis for estimating the carbon contents of the few tree species, but also eliminate the process of constructing the species carbon content equations and increase overall work productivity.(4) According to the carbon equations of seven common tree species(except Chinese chestnut) and general carbon content equations of Shandong Province, compare the carbon content of the different components. The results show that the carbon content of tree trunk from high to low in turn is quercus > poplars > Chinese pines> acacia > Shandong Province >cypresses > the Japanese red pines > black pines, the carbon content of branches from high to low in turn is black pines > cypresses > Shandong Province > quercus > Chinese pines >poplars > acacia > the Japanese red pines, the carbon content of leaves from high to low in turn is black pines > the Japanese red pines > cypresses > Shandong Province > Chinese pines > quercus > acacia > poplars. In the roots carbon content, the largest roots carbon content is black pines, the second is acacia and Shandong province, and the others have less differences. The comparison results of the whole plant show that the others have no significant difference in carbon content, except black pines. It also suggests that other tree species in Shandong Province(except black pines) can use general carbon equations to calculate the whole plant carbon content. This study has constructed individual tree and organs carbon content equations in Shandong Province. Compared with the traditional method, that method can calculate the carbon contents directly by DBH and tree height and eliminate the process of determining the biomass and carbon content rate, so the work efficiency is improved greatly. At the same time, this article analyzes the change of carbon content of different tree species components, and illustrates the use value of the general carbon content equations in Shandong Province. Not only that, the carbon content equations provide direct technical support for estimating carbon storage. Meanwhile, it offers the new method of high maneuverability for estimating other tree species carbon content, and makes useful exploration for future research of arbor layer carbon storage among all the provinces and cities.
