| Fuji is a leading variety of apple in Shanxi Province, and it has the seriousself-incompatibility problem. Measures must be taken to work out it. And artificial pollinationis a useful one, because it can improve poor pollination and fertilization in Fuji apple to getthe improvement of orchard yield and fruit quality. Therefore, some suitable apple cultivarswere chosen to product pollen and related biological characteristics with pollen wereinvestigated from2013to2014in apple producing areas of Baishui, Shanxi province. Thisstudy mainly focus on those follow aspects as the production of apple pollen, some indexdeterminations of pollen activity, anthers of powder amount, storage of apple pollen, pollenpollination activity and so on, to formulate the standards for pollen production reference.Consequences are as follows:1.Pollen provided by three common cultivars include Starkrimson,Gala, Qin guan, can bepollinated to Fuji apple,which are not only cultivated widely,but also with a high antherpowder,and an anther powder amount of the cultivars was respectively8083,9616,8000. Thepollen activity kept well picked within a week, and these pollen germination of Starkrimson,Gala, Qin guan was respectively92%,69.4%,53.4%. Owing to the low anther powderamount and the low pollen germination, the pollen of Pink lady was not suitable for pollenproduction for pollination. And it was found that there were only4833grain per anther, andits germination rate was40.4%.2.The pollen of pink lady, Starkrimson, Gala, Qin guan by natural drying were not betterthan the one drying by oven,and these pollen viability loss rate is respectively89%,37%,67%,34%, So in the pollen production we should choose25℃for quick drying by oven, andthe pollen moisture be kept10%-11%.3.During determining the pollen activity, the solid agar method is more accurate than thestaining one, and the concentration which is10%of sucrose and1%agar was better thanothers.TTC staining method is not suitable for apple pollen.4.The temperature influences the pollen activity, and the lower the temperature thelonger pollen activity will keep. The pollen can be maintained active for half a year in4℃storage environment, in-18℃storage environment it can meet the need of pollination next year, and in-40℃even lower temperature pollen viability loss rate is lowest.5.When artificial pollinated with the pollen germination rate of not less than12%,fruit-set rate of Fuji is above85%,and it can meet the demand of pollination.6.Plant growth regulators had no significant effect on promoting the apple pollengermination, but higher concentrations inhibited pollen stronger, so it was not use as additivein artificial pollination. |
