Lotus seed is the seed of Nymphaeaceae lotus, has a long history in our country, theprocessing of lotus seed (shelling, peeling, coring) mostly rely on manual for a long time,now with improvement of living standards and the health care consciousnessenhancement and lotus seed’s good edible and medicinal value was found, there is anincreasing demand for lotus seed, the traditional processing of lotus seed unable to meetthe needs of the market.Lotus seed core is lotus’s leaf and plumule,has bitter taste andhigh medicinal value, the lotus seed coring is an important link in processing of lotusseed, it restricts the development of lotus seed industry for a long time, the study of lotusseed coring will be able to promote the rapid development of lotus seed industry andimprove the comprehensive utilization of lotus seed.In this paper, the status of machine for the coring of lotus seed at home an abroadare introduced, summing up the advantages、disadvantages and existing problems of eachdevice, perform an analysis to the trend of development of machine for the coring of lotusseed, put forward a new scheme about machine for the coring of lotus seed: itcombination of high pressure gas and hollow tool to coring of lotus seed, using aspecially designed flared opening up and the die positioning lotus seed, the machine forcoring of lotus seed main parts are transmission system、coring device、feeding deviceand locating device.According to the principle of machine for coring of lotus seed, determining itstransmission system, selecting the groove wheel and cam,by studying the fresh lotusseed and lotus seed core mechanical and physical properties and shapeparameters,determining the core cutter and upper and lower concave die and otherrelated important dimensions, using modern design method of computer proceedingstructure design and the theoretical analysis to the main parts of machine for the coring oflotus seed, using of Pro/Engineer software for3D entity modeling, motion simulation,virtual assembly and interference inspection, according to drawings to complete theprocessing and manufacturing of parts complete prototype manufacturing, and to carryout the performance test.
