Radix Bupleuri which belong to Buleurum L. in Umbelliferae is perennial herbaceousplant, it has always been used for years, with the function of relieving the exterior, antipyreticeffect and relieving the depressed liver. The dried root both Bupleurum Chinese DC.and B.scorzonerifolium Willd. were collected in2010version of Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The study which used B. Chinese DC. as materials was carried out in Feng countyShanxi Province Radix Bupleuri base from April,2013to November,2013. For improvingstandardized cultivation technique and strengthening the quality control of B. Chinese, thisstudy included following aspects:1. Though observing the symptom of B. Chinese root rot, we screened fungicides forcontrolling B. Chinese. The result showed that all of the eleven fungicides could control B.Chinese root rot, and75%chlorothalonil had the best control effectiveness. The residuesresult of chlorothalonil in B. Chinese rhizome showed that it couldn’t been determined in the48th day. And75%chlorothaloni could be used as a fungicide with high effect and lowtoxicity.2. Topping to two-year-old B. Chinese, the result showed that the root diameter, root dryweight and total saikosaponin content of B. Chinese were higher than contrast. The content ofsaikosaponin a and saikosaponin d of topping B. Chinese were higher than contrast in July,September, November; but the root length of B. Chinese with topping had little change.3. The yield and saikosaponin were used as assessment criteria in the research onoptimum harvest periods of B. Chinese. The result showed that root dry weight and totalsaikosaponin of three-year-old Radix Bupleuri up to the maximum in early November, whichit was the best in quality and production.4. The12batches of B. Chinese collected from Feng county were measured effectivecomponents and index components, namely the contents of moisture, total ash, acid-insolubleash and ethanol-soluble extractives. The results showed that all of the index components metthe standard requirements of Chinese Pharmacopoeia. For a more comprehensivemeasurement of the quality, it was suggested the moisture should not exceed8.0%, total ashshould not exceed8.0%, acid-insoluble ash should not exceed3.0%, ethanol-solubleextractives content not less than3.0%, the total saikosaponin a and saikosaponin d were not less than0.80%, and suggested to add the total of saikosaponin content not less than2.30%.
