To explore the effect of coriander volatiles and essential oil of orange peel and coriander on aphid choice behavior and understand the avoidance function of essential oil of orange peel and coriander on aphid, this paper was divided into three parts:(1) using Y-olfactometer to measure the effect of nine kinds of host plant volatile on aphid choice behavior with air and coriander as control.(2) aphid choice behavior to coriander and orange peel essential oil of different concentrations and different doses.(3) the repellent of orange peel essential oil of different concentrations on aphid. The main conclusions of this study were as follows:1. With air as control, coriander volatile odor had significant repellent effect on both winged and wingless aphid. Celery odor had significant repellent on wingless aphid (p<0.05). Pepper odor had extremely significant repellent effect on wingless aphid (p<0.01). Compare with coriander volatile odor, rape and bean showed extremely significant attraction to aphid of two insect states(p<0.01). Cabbage, cucumber, celery, eggplant, tomatoes odor showed extremely significant attraction to winged aphid (p<0.05), while crowndaisy chrysanthemum didn’t show obvious tropism reaction.2. With distilled water as control, under different concentration, the aphid choice at1μl/ml,10μl/ml,100μl/ml coriander essential oil showed significant difference and the aphid choice at100μl/ml orange peel essential oil showed extremely significant difference. Under different doses, aphid choice for7μl and5μl orange peel essential oil showed extremely significant difference and significant difference respectively. Aphid choice at7μl coriander essential oil showed extremely significant difference and that at5μl and3μl coriander essential oil showed significant difference. Compared with orange peel essential oil, the aphid choice at100μl/ml or5μl coriander oil showed significant difference.3. The aphid landing amounts on leaves treated with orange peel essential oil of different concentrations decreased progressively with time, while that in control group had varying degrees of increase. At0.1μl/ml,1μl/ml,10μl/ml and100μl/ml the maximum repellency rates after48h on treated leaf surfaces were73.70%and63.3%and34.7%and22.40%, while repellency rate (none choice) were75.10%and70.30%and69.1%and42.47%at the same concentration, respectively.
