As a vital fruit and vegetable crop, cucumber plays crucial role in food supply. Therefore, the yield and quality of cucumber are paid more and more attention, and, Soilless culture will become a direction of the development of traditional agriculture. Seed selection breeding and integrated agricultural management are effective approach to increase yield and improve cucumber quality. By the comparison in the major characters of5tested cucumber varieties, this study selected one best variety named Huanggui, which was able to adapt worth condition in hydroponic culture. Further research was focused on seducing-male techniques and analyse the underlying mechanism of the silver nitrate seducing-male. What’more, seed-reserving methods was also analysed, which generated a profound significance for cucumber seed production. The main results and conclusions were as follows:1. By the comparison in the stem diameter, plant height, chlorophyll content, root activity and relative conductivity of the5tested cucumber varieties in the hydroponic culture and field experiment, Huanggui and Zhuoyi were demonstrated as better varieties adapted to high temperature and low light intensity. Besides, Huanggui was detected as a best hydroponic culture variety because of its significance advantage in fruit yield, Vc content, soluble protein content and soluble sugar content.2.200mg/L-400mg/L AgNO3and250mg/L-750mg/L GA had a nice seducing-male effect. The optimum one was300mg/L AgNO3and500mg/L GA took the second place. Moreover, twice spraying made a better effect than once for both AgNO3and GA. Besides, the appropriate spraying stage was proofed as two-leaves stage.3. The possible mechanism underling the seducing-male chemical effect was alteration of the endogenous hormone in cucumber. It indicated that300mg/LAgN03influenced the IAA content and GA content in the stem apical of cucumber seedlings dramatically, which also increased the plant ZR and ABA content.4. The optimal seed-reserving method was as follows:pistillate and staminate flower day as fertilization stage,2-3reserving cucumber number,40/10treatment as seeds production.
