Trifolium pratense L. is a short-term perennial plant and it is a most improtent forge grass which was used a forage with characteristics of good quality, high nutritional value and good palatability. This research had been done in the base and lab in Hohhot Inner Mongolia on botanical characteristics, biological characteristics, agronomic traits, production performance and forage quality for providing promotion of technical support and basis for identification of Mengnong NO1. Red Clover. The results are as follows:1. There were some main botanical characteristics of Mengnong NO1. Red Clover showed that:it was a perennial herb with a upright or half upright plant type and many branches. The height was about40centimeters. There was axis root t with khaki color which was had green stems mostly and purple Green stems little. The length was3.09centimeters and the width was2.84centimeters of entirely coating big nearly round leafs. The leaf area was6.07square centimeters. There was no leaf spot of40percent of plants. There were capitalism flowers which grow on the top or axils on the plant. There were purple flowers, light purple flowers, pink flowers, pink and white flowers, little white flowers.60percent of seeds are yellow or khaki colors. The grain weight was1.3344gram. Compared with other control varieties there were a powerful branching and buried deeply and thick roots. There was a significant difference in the numbers of Stem branches and number of internodes between Mengnong NO.l1Red Clover and other control varieties. The variation of branch colors was few. There was a small natural height and lightly leaf spot within groups. There was also a big high and widely basal leaves which was nearly round. There was a few numbers of inflorescence number per stem and florets per inflorescence. The variations of flower’s colors were rich. The color of seeds was entirely light. The yellow color of seeds was most and the grain weight of seeds was small.2. It is a Late flower plant and Basal leaves just grow in first year. The fastest growth rate was in the stage of Branches to bloom. April5was its reviving stage. In the second year there were158days for breeding period and203days for growth period. June18was early flowering stage, and it lasted84days. July11was early seeding period and it lasted62days.The sequence of flowering nothing to do with sun light, the sequence of seeding was similar with flowering. There was a peak of flowering in12:00to16:00and there were significantly greater than other time. It was needed4to6days to Complete flowering. The greatest average number of daily flowers per inflorescence was the second day.There was best rate of overwintering of Mengnong NO1. Red Clover, and it could achieve99.3percent. There was significantly greater than the control varieties. Seedling cold tolerance test and element and polysaccharide content in the root test both showed that there was a better cold resistance of Mengnong NO1. Red Clover.3. There was no significant difference between Mengnong NO1. Red Clover and other3control varieties in fresh yield and hay production first year, its biennial plants fresh yield could up to31200kg/hm2. hay yield production could up to9583kg/hm2,and there was Significantly greater than first year. There was the greatest impact to the Seed yield per plant by numbers of reproductive branches and numbers of inflorescence.lt was belong to Under numerous grass, and there were a large number of blades and water content. There was most part of Root biomass under ground0cm to10cm. and it dropped with roots extending to the underground.4. The highest Total moisture stage was matured and the lowrest wras Branching stage. The highest crude protein content was Branching stage, and there was significantly greater than other stages. The least crude protein content was matured. There was highest fat content in reviving stage, and flowering period was lowest. Crude ash content in reviving stage could up to28.04%and it just10.93%in matured stage. Neutral detergent fiber in reviving stage was the most, and acid detergent fiber was branching stage.There was highest amino acid content in flower and there was significantly greater than stems and leaves. There was significantly greater than stems and flowers of total calcium content in leaves. There was highest total phosphorus content in flowers.
