In this experiment, a variety of tree peony named‘Yinhongqiaodui’was used as the experiment material, four different sizes of containers are designed as the size treatments including extra large, large, medium and small, four different types of containers are designed as the type treatments including roots controlling containers, earthen basins, non-woven fabrics and plastic basins. The influence on peony morphology and physiology by different container sizes and different container types were tested. The results show that: in type treatments in the container, due to the better permeability and reasonable design of roots controlling containers, most of its morphological parameter performances well and significant differences are formed compared with other treatments. For container handling volume, the indicators peony large basin was significantly better than the others treatments, followed by large bowl and the bowl, considering the production and transport, storage efficiency, and economic cost, the number of pots in use can account the large, followed by big tub can be used. The Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.cv.‘Luoyang hong’ were used as material, the dynamic changes of some physiological and biochemical indexes of potted and field cultivation tree peony in annual period were studied. The results showed that every physiological and biochemical index showed a similar trend. CAT activity and soluble sugar content in flower bud of potted and field cultivation tree peony showed a trend of decreasing after increasing. Proline content in the tree peony flower bud showed a lower-higher-lower-higher trend. Free amino acid content in the flower bud of tree peony under two kinds of cultivation mode gradually reduced. Malondialdehyde content in the tree peony flower bud showed a trend of rising after lowering. The results have a significant influence on the relationship between container size and type and the growth of peony. Further, the results could guide production and practice, so that the techniques of production of Peony can be improved.
