Cultivation history about tress peony (Paeonia suffruticosa) in south of anhui province show that it has long history of cultivation and good condition as the base of cultivation and breeding . It is feasible plan that firstly Zhongyuan cultivars may be introduced in Chaohu city ,southern Anhui province ,and then be introduced south further to cultivate tress peony in southern China.A research was made in the article on assessment and evaluation on the ecological adaptability of 23 tress peony cultivars introduced in Chaohu city. It might be referred for further studies in the future. Plant types, flower models, flower attitude, period of bloom, size of flower, floral ratio, growth potential and resistance to diseases observed in the introduced area were compared to the corresponding indexes from the original area in the study.Result of research showed that different tress peony cultivars demonstrated different growth traits and it is necessary to choose proper cultivars in the southern China according to introduction purpose. The cultivars including Linghuazhanlong, Shengdanlu, Wulongpengsheng, Zilankui, Yanziyinghui, Yinggebaozhu, Bangningzi, Hongtu, Zhihong and Huawang out of 23 introduced cultivars had better adaptability to the climatic conditions in southern china. For fancy demand some tress peony cultivars with general adaptability to the climatic conditions may be introduced such as Shouanhong, Bangningzi, Zihongzhengyan. For particular fancy demand some tress peony cultivars with bad adaptability to the climatic conditions may be introduced such as yellow Yaohuang. The cultivars including Jinyujiaozhang, Feiyanhongzhuang, Qinglongzhenbao had bad growth potential and bad resistance to diseases in summer with high temperature and high humidity. The results possess important practical reference value for tress peony introduction practice in southern China. In Chaohu city for further introduction and breeding of cultivars with stronger resistant to high temperature and high humidity, more attention should be paid to high floral ratio and stronger growth potential in origin related to tress peony cultivars introduction. It was essential that corresponding cultivation techniques be applied at the same time. The choice standards possess important practical guide value for tress peony introduction practice in southern China. Japanese tress peony cultivars with late period of bloom compared to Zhongyuan cultivars had better adaptability to climate with high temperature and high humidity. Japanese tress peony was suitable to spread in southern China.Diurnal variations of photosynthesis in leaves of four cultivars including Feiyanhongzhuang, Fenejiao, Wulongpengsheng, Zhihong was studied in summer with high temperature and high humidity in southern China. Results of the integrating research were as follows: Physiological factors responded to high temperature and high light in summer such as net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate and stomatal conductance etc. Diurnal changes of 4 tress peony cultivars in net photosynthetic rate were an obscure bimodal curve. The ones in transpiration rate were an irregular curve. The one in stomatal conductance were a single curve. And stomatal conductance of 4 tress peony cultivars falled down continually after 9 o'clock when photosynthetic active radiation was strengthened, and the temperature heightened. Multi-linear regression equation of Pn to ecological and physiological factors (Gs,Ci,Tr,VPD,Tl,Ca,RHå’ŒPAR) were set up. Importance of the factors was arrayed according to partial coefficients in corresponding equations. Stomatal conductance and intercellular CO2 concentration had significant effect on photosynthetic rate. Under the climate condition of the high light and high temperature in summer, some cultivation measures might relieve adverse effect under stress condition, such as Casting a shade, overlaying with grass in the ground and spraying fog in the evening. The high temperature and high humidity had adverse effect on the growth of tress peony in May in Chaohu city. The tress peony might be Cast a shade in the afternoon in May and June. The tress peony might be Cast a shade in a day in July and August.Under the continual climate condition of high temperature and high humidity in summer, the leaves of tress peony was damaged, chlorophyll content was reduced, and net photosynthetic rate fell down. The symptom of the heat harm and the variation of chlorophyll content and net photosynthetic rate might help to distinguish the resistance to high temperature and high humidity in different tress peony.Following the ecological and aesthetic principle, combined together with the vernacular culture of the tress peony, tress peony was disposed rationally in the southern gardens according to the whole landscape planning demand and ecological characters and ornamental value among different tress peony cultivars groups.In a long time,in the southern China tress peony could be introduced and cultivated through introduction southerly gradually with corresponding Systematic cultivation techniques. Breeding base might be established in Chaohu city, Tongling city and Ningguo city, tress peony cultivars adaptable to climatic condition of high temperature and humidity is cultivated gradually.
