Red-crowned Crane and Otis tarda are the protected birds in national level, which are theworld’s endangered species. Since ancient times, red-crowned crane is so called “Xian he”,lovedby many people,But the world’s population of red-crowned cranes are less than2,700, the Otistarda is one of the largest birds in the world, but there are only more than500left in our country, and the population is declining. In order to reduce harming the wild cranes and Otis tarda, andpreserve or expand the populations of species. Nature reserves have been established by manyregions, to protect the red-crowned crane and the Otis tarda, they establish the breeding centerstry to expand the population by artificial breeding. But, due to the limitations, the survival rate isnot high. compared with the wild population, caged animals usually have single food, lessexercise, and weak constitution, prone to various diseases, Especially the chicks died from manydiseases. In this study, the dead Red-crowned Crane and Otis tarda herein breed chicks are takenin Momoge National Nature Reservation, In order to diagnose the cause of red-crowned craneand Otis tarda chicks’ death, we take the heart and liver of the Red-crowned crane and Otis tardapathogen to isolate, which is identified by viruses and bacteria test (smear staining, biochemicaltests, and16SrRNA PCR),we found that the pathogen is pathogenic E. coli. But through21kinds of drugs susceptibility testing show that two strains are great different in susceptibility, weshould screen out the best treatment drugs, to prevent the abuse of antibiotics. By analyzing thedifferences between two strains, then summarize the reasons for lack of experience and thefeeding process, which can provide the basis for future reference of Red-crowned Crane andOtis tarda breeding.
