Nestlings Behavior And Growth Of Red-crowned Crane In Captivity

On the basis of reproduction of captive of Red-crowned Crane for years,this paper was referring more research in artificial incabution,nestling behavior,growth and body temperture regulation on Red-crowned Crane in northern weather conditions in China.Scan sampling and Focal sampling methods were utilized to determine the behavior mode,time budeder and behavior trends of the nestlings of Red-crowned Crane;Each growth indicator were measured to obtain the growing curves and equations;analy the body temperture regulation;Correlation analysis was taken between the behavior and growth indicators of young Red-crowned Crane to understand the relation between them.The results are as followed:Whether artificial incubation was successful largely depends on raising management, including temperature,moisture,forage nutrient composition,sports,suns and disease prevention and cure,etc.During the growth of young Red-crowned Crane,walking behavior kept a high percentage,the percentage is 21.91%.The other behavior of nestlings was mainly constituted by tweeting 15.92%,standing 14.47%,feeding 10.08%,resting 10.47%,preening, 8.62%,crouching,7.17%and watching 0.26%;The behavior of young Red-crowned Crane shows circadian rhythm generally;In different growth periods,temperature and weather,the behavior has great significance difference(p＜0.01).The growth of each growth indicator showed the form of "S",and belonged to Logistic equation.The growth of body weight is slow in the former period,and the most daily gain of body weight is in 7 week old is(145.3±12.9) g,the body weight of nestlings is(2982.1±114.9) g;The growth of body weight is almost stop in 17 week old.The most daily gain of other organ is in 6～8 week old,while the culmen is in 3 week old.Orders can be found for the growth of nestlings plumage,the sequence of alula is from outer to inner,the sequence of Primaries is from inner to outer,while Secondaries is middle first and sides later;For Rectrices, the sheath falling is middle first and sides latter.The body temperature of nestling is(38.6±0.22)℃in the first day,(40.7±0.28)℃in 20 day-age.And in the 30 day-age,the body temperature regulation mechanism was developed,the nestling was able to maintain their body temperature and independent of the environmental temperature.Otherwise,the growth of each indicator influenced behavior greatly:great significance can be found between behavior and growth indicators.The results revealed that walking behavior correlated with the growth of body weight,body length,wing length,tail length and tarsus length(p＜0.05),preening behavior correlated with the increase of each growth indicators(p＜0.01);on the other hand,the other behavior of nestling was correlated with each growth indicators.
