Abstract/Summary:
Recently; a new disease called "Bacterial canker" on Zhanhua winter date(Zizyphus jujuba cv. Dongzao) was found and caused seriously damage. Seven bacterial isolates were obtained from the diseased plants in the farm of Shandong province. Two typical isolates were examined for their pathogenicity, morphology, cultural and physiological properties as well as 16S rDNA sequense. The results demonstrated that bacteria are Gram negative rods, polar monotrichous and the colonies of bacteria growing on media are milk-write and around. The colonies are opaque and apophysis in the middle. According to 16S rDNA sequense of the bacteria and the BIOLOG test results, these 2 Isolates were identified as Pseudomonas syringae pv. jujubae Hu Baishi et Xu Zhigang, pathovar novel. This is the first report of this disease affect jujube in the world.
