Satellite Electrical Power Systems(EPS), one of the most failure-prone subsystem of the satellite, is the ‘heart’ of a satellite and a guarantee for satellite regular operation. Once a fault has taken place in this subs ystem, the damage ranges from reduced service life of the satellite to complete failure of the entire satellite. Therefore, study on the fault diagnosis of the EPS does make sense. However, one of the obstacle when conducting the research is the significan t deficiency of the fault data in EPS. This research took the GEO satellite’s EPS as an example and established its simulation model. Then the fault data of different fault mode was acquired by injecting the fault into the corresponding simulation model, a nd finally several fault diagnosis rules of the EPS was extracted. The brief steps of this research are concluded as follows. Initially, the operational principle of the EPS was introduced, and its topologies was classified and analyzed. Then this paper established the components’ mathematical models of the primary electrical power system(PEPS) and simulated the models by Simulink. The accuracy of the models was verified by comparing the output data with the telemetry data.Secondly, based on input-output relationship between each component of the PEPS, simulation model of the PEPS was established. Also, this section analyzed each component’s fault mechanism and fault modes, and then some typical fault modes were injected into the simulation model, obtaining corresponding fault data.At last, through comparing the fault data and the normal data, several characteristic parameters were found and the corresponding relationship between the different fault modes and the characteristic parameters were analyzed Ten diagnostic rules of the PEPS can be obtained using an algorithm of the decision tree. These rules were verified by analyzing the fault data of the same fault from different degree.
