With the rapid development of aerospace science and technology, satellite applications and applied satellite have developed very quickly in our country, which leads to impending research on new type LEOs and HEOs. Recently, as the accuracy of satellite orbit control has improved significantly, diversified structural types of satellite thrusters have been applied in development and application of new type satellite, which makes it more complex in processing craft of satellite thruster. However, both subtractive and additive manufacturing have their own shortage. To achieve efficient processing of uniform structure of satellite thruster, the concept of high efficient hybrid machining which combining subtractive and additive manufacturing base on manufacturability analysis and disassembling feature was put forward. The hybrid machining combines the high efficiency and high quality of cutting machining and the flexibility of additive manufacturing. It could meet the requirement and at the same time save a lot of material, which reducing the cost and increasing efficiency. A system of manufacturability analysis for hybrid machining was investigated, and a software of this system was developed. It was put into use on the machining of the integrative structure of satellite thruster. The experiment of mechanical property of hybrid machining test piece was did.Firstly, for hybrid machining of the integrative structure of satellite thruster, a system of manufacturability analysis was built. Considered of the relative features between subtractive and additive manufacturing, quantitative analysis was determined,and the indexes of subtractive and additive manufacturing was determined respectively. The influence on processing difficulty of every index was analysis, and the formulas of each index was provided refer to the characteristic of STL file.Secondly, a software of the system was developed, and the whole construction of the software was finished. The necessary function of picking up geometrical information,rebuilding model, computing and analysis indexes and rendering was gotten realized and explained by several examples. The software was put into use on the machining of the integrative structure of satellite thruster. The hybrid machining plans was determined by manufacturability analysis for both subtractive and additive manufacturing and disassembling feature.Finally, the experiment and analysis of tensile property, bending property andmicrostructure of 316 L hybrid machining test piece was did, and the influence of heat treatment on property was analyzed, and the results showed that the hybrid machining test was up to grade of engineering application. A integrative structure of satellite thruster was machined by hybrid machining.
