Head Mounted-Display system (HMDs) is a new type of combat equipment of modern battle plane. It has significant meaning for improving Air force defense force of our country. The layout of the HMDs interface is very important for enhancing pilots’situational awareness ability, improving operational performance and reducing the physiological and psychological load of pilots. Therefore, a good study of interface elements and layout can effectively reduce pilots’ physiological and psychological load in order to let them rapidly identify information and make choice, simultaneously, the efficiency of searching, capturing, and aiming and the task safety is improved by the reduce of operational error rate. This paper takes HMDs own ship status interface as the study target. Through the adequate existing literature research, the current several domestic and international different kinds of mainstream HMDs own ship status display interfaces are summed up (Distributed Flight Reference, Baseline plus Flight Reference, Non-Distributed Flight Reference, Advanced Non-Distributed Flight Reference.). In order to scientifically study the advantages and disadvantages of these interfaces, this paper has conducted a behavior/eye track experiment. Through qualitative (eye movement figure and heat map) and quantitative (reaction time and task accuracy) analysis under three different simulative flight task, the data is showed that Non-distributed flight parameter layout has got a better operational performance (shorter reaction time, higher accuracy). Arc segmented Attitude Reference is better than straight line Attitude Reference. Therefore, Non-distributed layout and Arc segmented Attitude Reference are recommended in the future Head Mounted-Display system design.
