| The migration and flow of population changes the spatial distribution of population, making labor and human capital accumulate to a specific area, and having a strong effect on regional innovation and regional economic development.The article does a positive analysis on the impact of migration on regional innovation by using provincial panel data. The results indicate that:(1) population migration has a significant effect on promoting regional innovation.The higher the regional population migration rate is, the higher the level of regional innovation will be. Population migration mainly promote regional innovation through deepening the division of labor, demand driven and knowledge spillover;(2) there are obvious differences among the impact of migration of different skill level on regional innovation: the higher skill level the migration is of, the more obvious impact it will make on regional innovation. Moreover, due to the different characteristics and requirements of industry, the contribution of migration of high skill level to high technology industry innovation appears more obvious than to all industry innovation;(3) the promotion of regional innovation, in turn, can improve regional immigration rate. Population migration can promote regional innovation, and the promotion of regional innovation can further promote the immigration, forming a virtuous circle mechanism. |
