Resource Curse Hypothesis Testing Of Shaanxi Province

"Resource Curse" hypothesis suggests that rich in natural resources had an adverse effect on the development of regional economy. Shaanxi as big province of resources, rich in natural resources. After the development of the western region, the development of natural resources strength continues to increase, also has achieved rapid economic development.But the Shaanxi’s economic level compare with some resource-poor east district both in the "quality" and "quantity", there is still a big gap and the gap gradually increase, why so big gap? I think that Shaanxi province after the development of the western region may appear the "Resource Curse". This article selects the data from 2001-2013 to the Shaanxi province to explore the relationship between natural resources and economic development, the judgment "Resource Curse" in Shaanxi province, and explore the cause of "Resource Curse".First, this paper expounds on the relationship between the natural resources and economic growth, defining key concepts and theoretical basis for the article. Then, describe of 2001 to 2013 in Shaanxi province the status of the natural resources and economic growth relations, build the coefficient of taxes on resources, there is a "Resource Curse" preliminary judgment in Shaanxi. In order to verify the existence of "Resource Curse" in Shaanxi, build resource dependence relationship with the economic growth model, make regression analysis, illustrates Shaanxi province exists "Resource Curse". Then, in order to explore the reason why there are "Resource Curse" in Shaanxi province, the resource dependence and several factors can lead to "Resource Curse" (mechanism) for a simple index analysis and empirical test, the following conclusions:Resource development existing in technology innovation "crowding out"; At the same time system of resources development in Shanxi Province produced obvious deterioration.Validation of "Resource Curse" in Shaanxi mainly focused on the theoretical analysis but empirical analysis, this paper adopt the multivariate regression model in the area of "Resource Curse" existence has carried on the empirical analysis. At the same time, an empirical analysis on the introduction of resource tax accounted for the proportion of fiscal revenue as a representative of the resource development of variables, might be better than other scholars before using the resources of dependent variable is more objective and representative.
