As "bridgehead" strategy proposed, Yunnan is positioned as the first test opening area of border, Frontier port contains significant opportunity to seek their own development. Frontier port, as an important domestic and foreign link node, play an increasingly strong transportation hub function in foreign trade. Frontier port logistics not only directly determines the level of domestic and foreign economic trade, but also become an important driving force of economic growth in urban hinterland. Research on the impact of port logistics supporting urban city economic growth, and identifying significant factors of port logistics for economic growth is critical to make regional development policies and coordinate regional economic development. Therefore, this paper selecting 2001-2012 panel data of logistics-related indicators as well as the carrier urban production gross of six port logistics in Yunnan, and introducing controlling variables such as the industrial structure,foreign investment, based on the panel "cointegration" regression model, make the objective quantitative study on the role of port logistics supporting urban economic growth. This paper can be summarized as the following four parts.The first part presents the research background and significance, and making comment on domestic and foreign literature related to port logistics and economic growth research, finds that the current port logistics are more concerned on the academic, the study on frontier port is fewer. This paper just makes up to the theory on port logistics. In addition, more simple time-series data analysis and operations research model is used to analyze the overall relationship. By introducing the panel data model, from the micro level the paper studies the relationship between port logistics and urban economic growth, and the introduction of control variables, such as industrial structure, to be verified, so the conclusion is more objective reality.The second part is about theory and situation analysis of frontier port logistics and economic growth. The connotation and the related theory of frontier port logistics and economic growth is described in detail, and a brief analysis of its frontier port in Yunnan Province as well as logistics support urban economic development status, the results show port logistics for the urban economy growth will have an impact, the city’s economic development also contributed to improve the level of port logistics.The third part is the theory of econometric analysis of panel data model, mainly describing the principle of the panel unit root test principle, the principle of the panel cointegration, and the form setting of panel model and the selection of influence mode.The fourth part is empirical analysis of frontier port logistics to the carrier urban support economic growth. First, through the panel data unit root test to analyze the stability of each variable sequence, then panel cointegration tests perform on sequence of passing the stationary test, and the panel regression model is further established, finding that the level of port logistics can generate more positive impact on promoting the economic growth, and considering other economic affecting factors, the industry structure, FDI, etc, adding to the model as control variables, the results show that the positive effect on the port logistics promoting economic growth do not change.The last part is a conclusion, which mainly includes the summary and policy recommendations based on the above theoretical and empirical research.
