Spatio - Temporal Evolution And Mechanism Of Regional Economic Structure In Jiangsu Province Since The Reform And Opening - Up

Regional economic structure is a kind of complicated and changeable social economic phenomenon, and has abundant connotation. Jiangsu province entered the stage of rapid development of regional economy since 1978, coming along with the optimizing of industrial structure, the evolving of economic spatial structure. At present, there are some problems in the development of the regional economy, the research on the space-time evolution and pattern of the regional economic structure and its mechanism has a realistic significance for the sustainable development of the regional economy. The paper analyzes of the evolution of the regional economic structure in Jiangsu province and reveales the factors and mechanism of the evolution since 1978.Regional economic structure can be divided into industrial structure and space structure. First of all, on regional scale, we analyze the industrial structure evolvement of space and time from three aspects, i.e. level of industrial development, nonfarm economy structure and agricultural economy structure. Secondly, on county scale, we use methods of ESDA and gravity analysis to analyze the law of the non-agricultural economic pattern and the agricultural economic structure.The research conclusions are as follows:(1) The non-agricultural phenomenon of the economic structure in Jiangsu province since 1978 is obvious, including the non-agriculturalization of the economic sectors and the employment. (2) The gap between regional non-agricultural economic fluctuations, the phenomenon of heavy industrialization is remarkable, and the service industry is internally equalizing. (3) The agriculture develops differently in the regional, and the crop structure is market-oriented and plural. (4) The non-agricultural economic spatial presents the trend of "south stronger, north weak", agglomeration and diffusion orderly. (5) The agricultural pattern of polarization is obvious; namely, the agricultural status of the southern Jiangsu has been becoming lower and lower, but the counterparts in northern Jiangsu are becoming stronger and stronger. (6) The influencing factors of the regional economic structure include the social resources, economic policy and market globalization, etc. (7) the evolution mechanism of the regional economic structure has the characteristics of three stages.
